To wonder where all the Tories are?

Not one Tory placard, not one Tory canvasser at our door, no Tory spam on my FB, Twitter feed...

Who are they targeting? Where are they?

(Not a bad thing I might add, but I see labour/lib dem everywhere.

Is it different elsewhere? If so, where are you?

They’ve been at my door this week. Given I don’t know of a soul planning to vote labour I would imagine they’re fairly confident of an easy win here.

longwayoff · 07/12/2019 23:33

It'll be Thatcher on steroids if they get a majority so I assume the 'shy' Tories are not shy but just embarassed to admit it in many areas.

Dusty01 · 07/12/2019 23:59

This is Ben Elton speaking: twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1203358705988915201

PersonaNonGarter · 08/12/2019 00:14

Quite a bit of Tory campaigning around here despite it being Labour/SNP marginal. The Tory candidate doesn’t stand a chance (although I will be voting for her - pretty sure she isn’t going to ‘sell the NHS’...)

Elodie2019 · 08/12/2019 06:52

Given I don’t know of a soul planning to vote labour

This is what I want to know! Where are these places?
I discovered yesterday that I actually know TWO people who are planning to vote Tory! They think BJ is a liar and don't really like him or his policies but they want out of the EU.HmmHmmHmmHmmHmm

Lots of blue around here unfortunately

Eggies · 08/12/2019 06:59

I don't know a soul voting labour (thank God) yet we've only had labour leaflets through the door. I think labour are simply trying too hard, clutching at straws. The Tories don't need to do that.

SillyUnMurphy · 08/12/2019 07:09

The ‘shy’ Conservative voter will turn out on Election Day when it really matters.

RedWineIsFabulous · 08/12/2019 07:13

This site is so left wing bias it's ridiculous!!

Safe Tory seat here.

I vote conservative as does everyone I know.

JoyceJames · 08/12/2019 07:14

So depressing. I read this morning that they put in their manifesto that they plan to replace the human rights act, even though it was brought into being by cross party agreement.page 48 of their manifesto, in small writing.

Elodie2019 · 08/12/2019 07:36

This site is so left wing bias it's ridiculous!!

But where are you all? If nobody posts of course it would seem that way!

SouthWestmom · 08/12/2019 09:53

Se have had a leaflet from the greens, live Dems and conservatives.
Nothing from the independent or the labour candidate

A very blue area so I imagine it will stay blue and not turn but libdem is prob the only alternative

Not one candidate had been round. Last time we had the Tory and I think a couple knocking for labour. Very odd

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 08/12/2019 10:20

But where are you all? If nobody posts of course it would seem that way!

Anybody that says they vote any other way than Labour and the sainted JC immediately gets told they are a living breathing child eating, kitten murdering vile excuse of a cunt.

It's the same on my local social media. I have really lost a lot of respect for several people I know because of their supreme arrogance in this regard. How and what I vote is my decision and I don't feel the need to broadcast my virtue signalling across the internet.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 08/12/2019 10:28

No canvassing in my road at least

Thinking about it i haven't seen Any canvassing in the village either

I have only seen a handful of signs...which again now you mention it is strange....all conservative

Logjam · 08/12/2019 10:37

We've had nothing - we live in a Tory safe seat with a self-serving greasy pole climbing MP - actually very like Boris. So he doesn't need to impress us with his activism on local issues, listening to his constituents? How ridiculous! - they'll vote for him anyway - stick a turkey with a blue ribbon on it and the people in my area with vote for it time and time again.

SouthWestmom · 08/12/2019 10:49

To be fair our conservative mp has been very responsive and interested in a crap situation we have been in. So I'm probably voting for her in the absence of any party I feel an affinity with.

FaFoutis · 08/12/2019 10:53

Nothing here either. My area is mainly wealthy pensioners so the Tory candidate (another, or maybe the same, self-serving greasy pole climbing MP) doesn't need to bother, the Daily Mail is doing his work for him.

Kit30 · 08/12/2019 10:57

Floating voter here. Obvious reason for Tory candidates' invisibility is that they're standing in a die hard Labour constituency where any other party supporters' votes just don't count. Though our local Conservative candidate has been out canvassing and putting his head above the parapet. I haven't seen anything of our standing Labour MP in the 15 years I've lived here. I don't agree with his stance on most issues ( I've checked his voting record and attendances online) and he hasn't had the courtesy to reply to emails questioning his stance on women's issues, amongst others. Locally he's pretty invisible.
From personal experience (as a mature student) I've witnessed extremely hostile reactions to anyone who even questioned Labour policies, from both students and staff. JC is god, it's like a cult. The political atmosphere on campus was nasty, bullying and intimidating. It's been a real shock to me because I thought that universities were there to foster debate and innovate. Not any more. You step outside The Party ( for there can only be one) line at your peril.
Locally there are Labour posters up but it would be someone very brave who put up an opposing party's ad. Around here you'd probably have your windows broken.

Oysterbabe · 08/12/2019 11:17

You only see labour and green posters in houses around here. A tory poster would probably result in your house being vandalised in some way.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 08/12/2019 11:34

Not here

Really really safe tory seat...incredibly safe, I can’t impress on you enough how safe

Livelovebehappy · 08/12/2019 11:36

Do parties actually do Door to door canvassing these days? I remember years ago it happened but with the internet giving out most of the information about parties, I really don’t think it’s common now. And they used to get abuse on doorsteps from opposing supporters. I remember my dad was a Tory supporter and shut our door in the face of a labour canvasser once, and I reckon the current very hostile environment could be quite dangerous for doorstep canvassers tbh.

Oysterbabe · 08/12/2019 11:37

We had the green party round yesterday. I think that the door knockers are very brave. My DH would no doubt told them what he thinks of their party had he answered the door.

Livelovebehappy · 08/12/2019 11:45

And i think most of MN is to the left and obviously labour supporters are incandescent with rage that it looks like the Tories are going to walk this election, which is the reason why there is more leftie vocalising on here. Tory supporters are a bit ‘meh’ because they are pretty content with how the polls currently stand so don’t feel the need to get into a bun fight on here.

John1971 · 08/12/2019 11:52

They're running scared of being challenged on their appalling record, the same as Johnson.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/12/2019 11:58

I'm a bit surprised myeslf; our Tory MP has an approx 4000 majority which I'd have thought makes her a target, but while we've had endless Tory bumph, absolutely nothing's been received from Labour yet

Weird ...
