Nativity AIBU

My ds is a cow in the nativity along with a lot of his friends,he’s very excited about it and I think they will be very cute.

My friend’s ds has a small speaking part but she has made a point of being really weird about the nativity. She told me she’d been online and researched all the parts and that the part her ds has is almost on the level of the King with the play. I’m fine with this but then she started making fun of my ds because he’s going to be a cow. My ds didn’t hear this but AIBU to think this is petty and weird behaviour?

My ds would be delighted with any animal,I think the children look cute whatever the character they are.

Hillocrew has a great suggestion

Littlebearstrousers · 04/12/2019 22:55

Oh god I would keep my distance. If she does say something to your DS again though I would really pull her up for being so rude and nasty (Although I LOVE Hillocrew suggestion of mooing at her Xmas Grin)

venusmay · 04/12/2019 22:56

I would love to moo at her! I can just imagine her face! Who needs friends like that?!

OP posts:
Hillocrew · 04/12/2019 22:59

No one. Definately not you. And your lovely son doesn't need any one like her around.

God imagine her at GCSE result time in years to come!

Villagegreenpreservation · 04/12/2019 23:01

A stare and "did you mean to be so rude?" Will sort her out. Bat shit

venusmay · 04/12/2019 23:01

Oh God I hadn’t thought about that, yes I’m going to keep well away.I can’t stand competitive parents.Never thought she was like that but maybe the nativity brought out her true colours!

She can moo off!

venusmay · 04/12/2019 23:02

Villagegreenpreservation - yes I agree!

She's the real cow here

I actually did a real lol at that ^^ GrinGrinGrin

Hippee · 04/12/2019 23:09

I'd have loved my DC being cows (though chickens are the best I have ever seen) - last 2 years they were "children", so didn't even get to dress up - didn't complain though! She is in for a tough time as a parent - boasting about your kids is a sure way to come a cropper later on.

ddl1 · 04/12/2019 23:10

Seems like there's more than one cow in this story!

SpiderCharlotte · 04/12/2019 23:11

Moo loudly in her face every time she does this.

Hippee · 04/12/2019 23:11

Most boastful parents at primary have gone very quiet at secondary (kids in trouble for bullying and shoplifting).

RB68 · 04/12/2019 23:11

my daughter played a shepherd every single year of primary - it was a joke in the end that she shared in and we rolled out the same outfit from about age 6 to 11 as she didn't grow alot in those years. There was a rumour in yr 6 she was to be an angel but she soon sorted that by going to the teacher and telling her that she had been a shepherd every other year and wanted to be one in her last year as well - lol

Yesmate · 04/12/2019 23:12

The mooing suggestions are brilliant 😂

Mumtoone39 · 04/12/2019 23:12

She sound dreadful and ridiculous.
My son is being a goat- he's delighted as he wants a set of horns.

MrsFionaCharming · 04/12/2019 23:13

I really want to know what role is ‘equal to a King’, and how you’d determine that through online research.

SunshineDays2019 · 04/12/2019 23:14

"Well yes, my son will be pretending to be a cow, but I have realised that you are actually a real one" Grin

RachelEllenR · 04/12/2019 23:15

How weird - in my children's nativities they get one or two lines each and every part is pretty much equal from sheep to Mary!

VisionQuest · 04/12/2019 23:15

I would have laughed loudly in her face at the admission of researching nativity parts online.

Some people are so odd.

Octopal7 · 04/12/2019 23:16

My daughter ran up to me after school, absolutely thrilled that she was going to play a donkey

Hillocrew · 04/12/2019 23:16

Sunshine days......... love it! Perfect response

avamiah · 04/12/2019 23:17

Hi venusmay ,
Ignore her she sounds totally ridiculous and a nasty piece of work .
My daughter is 9 and has been attending a stage school here in London since she was 4 doing dance/drama etc and hopes to go full time next year that’s if she passes the audition process .
I have met so many “stage mums” who think their child is the next “Harry Potter” or Beauty from Beauty and the Beast .
I was actually good friends with a mum for a long time but we fell out when her son didn’t a second recall on a audition and I said nicely that maybe he just wasn’t what they were looking for or great at the audition .

Avamiah that was a bit mean if you. I'm not surprised she fell out with you!
