They're fairly robust

AppleSighDuh · 04/12/2019 15:30

Meh. Are you even a baby if you haven't rolled off the sofa or bed and made your mum shit herself?

Coughsyrupsucks · 04/12/2019 15:36

Oh I feel for you! Flowers honestly she’ll be fine.

I didn’t realise mine could stand at 6 months. She was crawling around on the floor, I didn’t look while I was drinking a much needed coffee and I looked up and she was standing triumphantly holding the corner of a wooden chest, looking super leased with herself. I obviously made a panic sound she let go, head first into the corner of the chest.

She had a massive egg bruise come up on her head, so I ran to the GP with her and thankfully she was fine. I was convinced the GP wouldn’t believe me because standing 6 month old aren’t that common. I spent 20 mins trying to get her to do it again, thankfully she did.

She’s 16 now and thinks it’s a hilarious story. I’m going to remind her if she ever has kids!

Minionbums · 04/12/2019 15:51

It’s almost a rite of passage. Both of mine did it. If she’s fine now, just keep an extra eye on her for a couple of hours. Don’t feel bad, it happens to the best of us!

RoomR0613 · 04/12/2019 15:53

Parenting rite of passage I'm afraid.

I personally wouldn't have even bothered with the GP. There's going to be far worse bumps when they start walking I promise!

katmarie · 04/12/2019 15:55

Mine fell off the sofa at a few weeks old. Landed on his bum, looked a bit shocked and burst into tears. I was horrified, and seriously questioned my ability as a parent.. He was fine. It happens to every baby at some point, and we laugh about it now.

rattusrattus20 · 04/12/2019 15:57

similar things have happened to every baby who's ever lived in a place where there's furniture. keep a close eye on the baby now, & take sensible precautions in future, but don't worry too much.

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 04/12/2019 16:09

Oh my God - you are all such bad parents Shock
no my Dd didn't roll off the bed and bang her head on the radiator, oh no Wink

snowball28 · 04/12/2019 16:12

I’ve three children and honestly I’ve lost count of how many times they’ve all roles off something, had their head banged against many door frames and car doors by me or fallen down the stairs. 😅

Trust me it’s so, so normal. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t had it happen to them, the crying is a good sign so I wouldn’t worry to be honest.

ShootTheRunner · 04/12/2019 16:13

It's happened to lots of us, honestly. Don't beat yourself up Brew

Celebelly · 04/12/2019 16:15

Mine has been launching herself off all manner of places for a while now. They're surprisingly robust and I wouldn't worry unless there are any signs of head injury. But babies will whack themselves off all sorts. My DD is 9mo and getting very mobile and she bangs herself off something or slips off something most days tbh. Just part of learning how to move your limbs!

Sammi38 · 04/12/2019 16:16

Honestly, don’t feel bad, it happens to a lot of us.

Celebelly · 04/12/2019 16:17

And no need for A&E and tbh I wouldn't even bother with doctor unless I thought she'd actually been injured or was showing signs of a head injury, but I accept that I am on the more laid back end of the parenting scale! Grin

Cryalot2 · 04/12/2019 16:20

Hugs , be nice to yourself. It has happy most mums.
I remember clearly ds rolling off bed mny years ago. He stopped crying long before I did and imagine was less shaken and has no memory unlike me who felt worst mum ever. x

Treaclepie19 · 04/12/2019 16:24

Mine rolled off the bed about the same age. I was distraught 🙈 He was fine.
He also stepped off a metal climbing frame at the park before I could get from one side of the slide to the other at about 2yo. Scared the life out of me. He was fine.

Whattodoabout · 04/12/2019 16:28

She’ll be fine, this happens all of the time. My eldest rolled off the bed, he’s nine now and completely fine. Youngest has had a couple of tumbles off the sofa onto the wooden floor, again he’s absolutely fine.

Phrowzunn · 04/12/2019 16:34

DD1 launched herself off the bed, head first, onto the floor, the day she turned 6 months old. I still remember the feeling of thinking I had just seen her die, in slow motion. The weight of her whole body falling down on top of her wee neck... shudder BUT she was and is fine, 3 years old soon. Like PP have said - a rite of passage!

willowmelangell · 04/12/2019 16:35

Dd had a shock, you had a shock. It happens to us all.
I imagine you will watch her like a hawk for 24 hours. Of course.

Now you know she can ninja roll, you will have a play mat on the floor and change her on the floor too.

Tvstar · 04/12/2019 16:35

Just been reading this smugly thinking why do so many mums allow this to happen, then reembeted I set my 2 year olds hair on fireata Christine service and left a baby in her car seat at airport security 😂😂

JJSS123 · 04/12/2019 16:49

Thanks everyone! And the doctor was pre booked as rash on her leg which is eczema but been checked over and all fine thank k you xxx

They all do it :)

Parky04 · 04/12/2019 17:43

Another DC who rolled off the bed!! He bounced well!

BiBiBirdie · 04/12/2019 17:51

Ds has just reminded me of the time he feel down a flight of stairs at his aunt's house, he was holding a sausage roll in each hand so didn't get the handrail (he was 4). Rolled down, cried a bit, realised he was still successfully holding the aforementioned sausage rolls and rather triumphantly took a huge bite of one then the other. He would have been more bothered to have dropped them both and had one nicked off him by his sister or cousin.

Ilovellamas · 04/12/2019 18:26

This happened to my youngest too. I have felt terrible for years, it’s so nice to see I was/am not alone. I took him to the doctors but he was fine - hope you are OK

Ohdearohdearyme · 04/12/2019 18:28

Been there, done that as I'm sure most parents have.

Dont best yourself up over it of little one seems ok.
