So this one was going round the pub the other night and I thought it was a lot of fun. And actually quite thought provoking. So... can you guess my age from these 5 facts.

  1. I legally bought cigarettes at 16... and had them in the smoking room at work.
  2. my first concert was a Smash hits tour headlining Sean Maguire and Boyzone
  3. I paid tuition fees at university
  4. my favourite outfit as a pre-teen was from tammy girl
  5. I have no IT qualifications, including GCSEs. I never had a dedicated 'IT' subject on my school timetable.

So what year was I born???

And play along... :)

I too was first year to have to pay tuition fees. Was born 1980.

So was going to go for 80/81 for OP.

Ooh this is fun. How about guessing my age?!

My first record was 'Puppy Love' by Donny Osmond.
In primary school I could go home for lunch.
I remember when we went from old money to new.
My first Saturday job paid £1 an hour.
We had no central heating only one coal fire to heat the whole house.

Babdoc

Anyone care to guess my vintage?
1) I remember walking home from primary school through the notorious London smogs, pre Clean Air Act.
2) I remember Kennedy’s assassination when I was a child
3) My first boy band crush was one of the Monkees
4)When I first qualified as a doctor, the hospital cleaner earned more per hour than I did for working at night.
5) My first house - a detached 4 bed in rural Scotland- cost just £29,000.

Think I'm of a similar vintage, though born post-Kennedy assassination and 1st proper crush was Donny Osmond (although when a toddler I apparently used to kiss the television screen when Liberace was on Blush).

Your 4th clue really rang a bell though. Did you find you were asked (on Friday morning) "When does your shift end?" and on replying "Monday evening" were you told how lucky you were: "Wish I got paid for sleeping"?
I found it happened a lot.

(Yes, children, that's what it was like in the olden days Smile)

1973

Apart from the fact that I didn't have a Saturday job, all your clues could apply to me.
Sooo..... 39?

1959? So about 60.

mamaduckbone · 02/12/2019 19:56

I'd go for early 80s - I was born in 75 and didn't pay tuition fees. I did have IT lessons at school though and there was an IT department at secondary school - I did a module in Desk Top Publishing!

TheQueensCousin · 02/12/2019 19:57

39 or 60....🤔
