Well?

Blustering, politicising Friday's attack blatantly, blaming Labour for a terror attack when they've been out of power for 10 years, pathetic jokes about who is the best Andrew?! No answer for the horrible Islamophobic comments he has published...

Awful, awful man.

I think he did just fine. Marr seemed rattled. They both talked over one another though.

Treaclepie19 · 01/12/2019 10:49

YANBU. He can't take responsibility for a thing.

Singlenotsingle · 01/12/2019 10:51

Nonsense. That particular law came in on Labour's watch in 2008. It was repealed by the Conservatives in 2012 but Usmar Khan was lucky enough to have been convicted before 2012. Therefore he had to be released after serving half his sentence. Anyone convicted after 2012 won't automatically be released after serving half their sentence.

AlexaShutUp · 01/12/2019 10:52

YABU for even contemplating it in the first place, but YANBU to conclude that he is unfit for public office.

PineappleDanish · 01/12/2019 10:53

So don't.

But why you felt the need to start a thread about it is another matter.

Velveteenfruitbowl · 01/12/2019 10:54

I’m pretty sure everyone is voting strategically at the point. None of the leaders would make a for prime minister. It’s purely a question of who will do the least harm at this point.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 01/12/2019 10:54

Yanbu what an embarrassment he is.

Politicizing a terrorist attack while victims are still lying in hospital is beyond the pale surely.

John1971 · 01/12/2019 10:55

No wonder Johnson’s running scared of Neil and didn’t bother to show up for the climate change debate. Every time he opens his mouth the polls get closer and closer.

PostNotInHaste · 01/12/2019 10:55

Currently watching the interview with the Lie Minister and I don’t really have the words to express how I feel about it.

ImGoingToBangYourHeadsTogether · 01/12/2019 10:57

Yes I've noticed this attack has become a political issue.

The Tories have been in power for 10 years. Not 10 days. Not 10 weeks. Not 10 months. 10 years.

The fact that they're playing a blame game with another party about whose fault it is shows how vacuous the entire political system has become. But I can't vote for someone who does not understand the nature of responsibility after that length of time. There's been too much talk of how much charisma and character politicians have, and presumably how much this lying twit has. Anyone with any sense judges people on their actions.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 01/12/2019 10:58

No

But I very much doubt you had even considered voting for him beforehand

ThatUserNamesTakenTryAnother · 01/12/2019 11:01

Yanbu but surely it didn't take this interview to realise what a racist lying piece of shite he is to say just a few.
JC is the only way to go, honest, we will have an NHS, we will have fairness.
Stop listening to the lies about JC and
Vote Labour

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 01/12/2019 11:02

Personally I worry about the cuts to the prison service which happened under conservative rule.

The attacker reportedly asked for support and didn't get any.
If he wanted to have 1:1 deradicalisation support and couldn't get it due to cuts, who knows how many more people had the same experience in prison.

Amanduh · 01/12/2019 11:04

It’s going to become a political issue. Boris hasn’t made it a politicial issue. The justice system, sentencing and parole etc, two weeks before an election, is OBVIOUSLY going to be an issue from such an event. It just is. Labour started the blame game yesterday, and the Tories responded. And the tories HAVE changed the (ridiculous) automatic parole law that Labour brought in. This man was convicted previously and it could not apply retrospectively.
There’s a lot about Boris than isn’t perfect, but if I have to vote regarding Terrorism and keeping the country as safe as we can, there’s no way in burning hell I’d vote to let Corbyn and his allies anywhere NEAR those issues, the man is quite frankly dangerous.
Re the interview; bit of bluster as usual, but on the whole he did well. The best performance of the candiates so far interview wise probably. He can hold his own.

PostNotInHaste · 01/12/2019 11:07

If the gap between rich and poor has diminished, why are there so many people using food banks over the country? This is not good for my blood pressure but I can’t quite bring myself to turn it off until I get through the end,

RedWineIsFabulous · 01/12/2019 11:08

I think it was a disgusting interview- Andrew Marr showed his left wing bias and was disrespectful and rude.

I've complained to OFCOM as I am absolutely sick of the BBC and their bias

I never really take notice of Mumsnet in terms of a non bias view of politics either as this site is 95% labour voting, with never ending Tory bashing threads.

NameChangeNugget · 01/12/2019 11:09

Labour started this in 2008.

Open your eyes

PostNotInHaste · 01/12/2019 11:12

Sorry- Marr is disrespectful as he is calling the Lie Minister about lying ? How is that disrespectful? I’m not through yet and he’s just lying his arse off time and time again. I have no political alliance currently and can see he is lying his arse off as he always does. I have plenty to say about the other leaders too, but as this is about Johnson they aren’t relevant.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 01/12/2019 11:15

Of course the attack on Friday would become a political issue

And even though the Tories have been in power since 2010 and cuts have impacted services they will still be seen as the party that will come down harder on criminals there is a difference in the language being used between the two main parties

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 01/12/2019 11:17

Pretty sure you weren't going to vote for him anyway

ForalltheSaints · 01/12/2019 11:17

Why did it take you this long to realise how bad Mr Johnson is?

As for who should be held accountable for the way in which the prison and probation service have been emasculated and cannot work as well as they should, the person mainly to blame is Chris Grayling. Subsequent Justice Ministers have spent most of their time trying to undo his mess.

MustardScreams · 01/12/2019 11:18

The Tories have had a decade to pour funding into deradicalising inmates on terrorism charges.

The law has nothing to do with it. Who’s to say that if the murderer on Friday had had adequate support once he left prison he would have committed the same crime?

2 people have died because of this horrific man, he was known to be a danger to society, where was the prevention? They didn’t need to die.

Alsohuman · 01/12/2019 11:20

I've complained to OFCOM as I am absolutely sick of the BBC and their bias

I’m sick of it too, it’s become the Tory mouthpiece.

doubleshotespresso · 01/12/2019 11:22

Did you seriously need the interview today to reach this conclusion?

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 01/12/2019 11:26

About what ?

Boris Johnson got a harder time than Shami Chakrabarti who he interviewed beforehand
