DC is used to travelling on trains. It would a be a 25 minute trip end station to end station. I would put on train, MIL at other end to meet.

Mine did it at 10 too but had done that same journey with his sibling many times. He was very confident. He had a phone (although not always charged which led to my telling him off)

I think if he is a sensible 10 yo then it shouldn't be a problem. At 10 I put mine on the tube and they got off at London Bridge and walked to an after-school activity nearby. Had already been using the bus to go to school so quite confident.

I think MN can be a bit bizarre about what children can and can't do tbh - huge numbers of year 7 kids get trains in and out of big London termini to get to school everyday.

BUT... you do need to talk through the what ifs as a PP has said so that if the unexpected happens - train is late or cancelled etc or he loses his ticket (has been known to happen.....) or he misses his stop then he has a plan and knows what to do. Also he needs a mobile phone and an emergency £10 just in case.
