AIBU to wonder how you clean your skirting boards?

I hoover them when hoovering. Then i go back to pretending they don't exist.

hauntedvagina · 27/11/2019 21:10

With the hoover brush attachment. But they're hoovered very rarely, although in an old house we had one room with square skirting that dust used to sit on like a shelf so that would get sporadically baby wiped when walking past.

Dreamersandwishers · 27/11/2019 21:11

Occasionally I run a duster over them, or when I look closely and feel ashamed, I wash them; but most of the time I am firmly with Allergic - I ignore them.

Chouetted · 27/11/2019 21:12

I avoid looking at them. Being tall helps.

hazell42 · 27/11/2019 21:13

Dust em.
Occasional (very occasional) wipe over with a damp cloth

adaline · 27/11/2019 21:14

I run the hoover over them once a week or so.

Brimful · 27/11/2019 21:21

The downstairs skirtings seem to self-clean but upstairs need a regular wipe; hot soapy water with sponge do the trick (used to use one-use wipes before my environmental conscience kicked in).

Azzizam · 27/11/2019 22:13

There was a tip on YouTube I tried. You attach a duster/cloth to a soft broom with an elastic band each end. Spray the duster with a bit of multi surface polish. Does a good enough job without too much graft!

carrots555 · 27/11/2019 22:16

Duster normally, or wet wipe if looking grubby.

RedSheep73 · 27/11/2019 22:17

You clean your skirting boards?

DramaAlpaca · 27/11/2019 22:18

Another tall person who tries not to notice them.

When I do, I just give them a quick dust.

Sotiredsomuch · 27/11/2019 22:20

I’ve found skirting boards are one of those things in the house that never look particularly offensive then I have an attack of a cleaning fit and do them and all of a sudden they look great. Worth doing.

Treaclepie19 · 27/11/2019 22:22

Hoover. Some of them hoover really easily and look clean, others need a wipe down.

PrincessSarene · 27/11/2019 22:23

Feather duster once in a while - and sometimes I can persuade DD(4) to do it for me Grin

bumpingalongnicely · 27/11/2019 22:42

If I dust then fabric bits get stuck in them - anyone else? Maybe I'd get on better with baby wipes

If glossed, then a big car sponge, wring it out, swipe it along the skirting. Otherwise, the Dyson has a brush attachment. Or completely ignore them, which is what I mostly do.

We’re about to put in new flooring in one room, the skirting must be straight, no ridges. We made the mistake of putting a lovely one with ridges which resembles the dado rail. We have dogs. Bad move.

megletthesecond · 27/11/2019 22:54

Dyson brush attachment once a month or so.

Friendlyduvet · 27/11/2019 23:08

Hoover when hoovering, then wipe if needed. I think skirting boards, doors, handles and corners measure how clean your home is, but thats just my thing!

HeavenlyEyes · 27/11/2019 23:10

I let the hens take care of them.

MsVestibule · 27/11/2019 23:20

Dusting attachment on the vacuum cleaner - takes about 2 minutes to do a large room.

Streamside · 27/11/2019 23:50

Why do we have them, if I built a new house I certainly wouldn't have any.

Stompythedinosaur · 27/11/2019 23:52

I mop them occasionally.

PickAChew · 27/11/2019 23:55

Vacuum them, then wipe if too sticky to clean that way. Not hard.

Serenity45 · 27/11/2019 23:57

Antibac wipe every couple of weeks...in our old house which was a lot smaller they'd be noticeably dusty after a week but our current house is pretty big and we reckon the dust spreads out a big more Grin

However I do get a decent workout doing them in a weird crouch as my hamstrings bloody feel it the next day.

SuzieSunshine · 28/11/2019 00:02

@HeavenlyEyes I've got to ask!!
