Skirting boards

AIBU to wonder how you clean your skirting boards?

I hoover them when hoovering. Then i go back to pretending they don't exist.

With the hoover brush attachment. But they're hoovered very rarely, although in an old house we had one room with square skirting that dust used to sit on like a shelf so that would get sporadically baby wiped when walking past.

Occasionally I run a duster over them, or when I look closely and feel ashamed, I wash them; but most of the time I am firmly with Allergic - I ignore them.

I avoid looking at them. Being tall helps.

I run the hoover over them once a week or so.

The downstairs skirtings seem to self-clean but upstairs need a regular wipe; hot soapy water with sponge do the trick (used to use one-use wipes before my environmental conscience kicked in).

There was a tip on YouTube I tried. You attach a duster/cloth to a soft broom with an elastic band each end. Spray the duster with a bit of multi surface polish. Does a good enough job without too much graft!

Duster normally, or wet wipe if looking grubby.

Another tall person who tries not to notice them.

When I do, I just give them a quick dust.

I’ve found skirting boards are one of those things in the house that never look particularly offensive then I have an attack of a cleaning fit and do them and all of a sudden they look great. Worth doing.

Hoover. Some of them hoover really easily and look clean, others need a wipe down.

Feather duster once in a while - and sometimes I can persuade DD(4) to do it for me

If I dust then fabric bits get stuck in them - anyone else? Maybe I'd get on better with baby wipes

If glossed, then a big car sponge, wring it out, swipe it along the skirting. Otherwise, the Dyson has a brush attachment. Or completely ignore them, which is what I mostly do.

We’re about to put in new flooring in one room, the skirting must be straight, no ridges. We made the mistake of putting a lovely one with ridges which resembles the dado rail. We have dogs. Bad move.

Hoover when hoovering,then wipe if needed. I think skirting boards, doors, handles and corners measure how clean your home is, but thats just my thing!

I let the hens take care of them.

Dusting attachment on the vacuum cleaner - takes about 2 minutes to do a large room.

Why do we have them, if I built a new house I certainly wouldn't have any.

I mop them occasionally.

Vacuum them, then wipe if too sticky to clean that way. Not hard.

Antibac wipe every couple of weeks...in our old house which was a lot smaller they'd be noticeably dusty after a week but our current house is pretty big and we reckon the dust spreads out a big more

However I do get a decent workout doing them in a weird crouch as my hamstrings bloody feel it the next day.
