To be freaked out and wondering what this is?!

The last week or so I've been having some weird feelings in my lower abdomen that REALLY feel like early 'baby' movements. Rumbling, kicking, poking sort of sensations.

Just one problem....I'm not pregnant!! I have a mirena coil and have had for the past 10yrs, never had an issue with them. I do periodically take pregnancy tests just in case (once every 6 months or so at a rough guess) and I've taken one in the last month which was negative. It was a old, cheap one lying around in the back of the drawer but still, surely it's not a false negative?

The movements happen randomly and don't last that long, few minutes at most, no correlation with them and anything else it's all over the place. Had them again tonight and you can actually see my belly moving when it happens. As if I was pregnant and a real baby was moving around in there!

Aibu to be freaked out?! Does anyone have any idea what this could be if not a baby? Don't want to book a gp appointment for non painful weird belly pokings 😂

PS: I don't have gas, that was my first thought.

Muscle spasm? Pregnancy test would be your best bet.

RJnomore1 · 26/11/2019 19:25

Worms?

QuestionableMouse · 26/11/2019 19:25

Wind?

Sexnotgender · 26/11/2019 19:26

Gas?

Sexnotgender · 26/11/2019 19:26

Oh I missed the very end of your post, ignore me!

ByAppointmentTo · 26/11/2019 19:27

Hernia, pregnancy or muscle spasm.

thingsgetbetterf · 26/11/2019 19:27

Literally "I don't have gas" was in the post yet people still suggest it 🙄

TheDarkPassenger · 26/11/2019 19:28

I’ve had these since my last child! By now I don’t really understand it but I just lay there and enjoy it :)

Could it be something to do with muscle memory? I would probably take a fresh (new) pg test anyway just incase as it can be very bad if you are pregnant on the coil!

ThatUserNamesTakenTryAnother · 26/11/2019 19:28

Probably gas

WhoAmIToTellYou · 26/11/2019 19:31

Trapped air? Or a baby? You need to get another test...

Makinganewthinghappen · 26/11/2019 19:33

I get this a lot no idea why! But I’m def not pregnant (unless it’s a 10 year plus pregnancy Grin)

StillWeRise · 26/11/2019 19:33

do another test

7Days · 26/11/2019 19:34

I was the same not too long ago, with bloating as well though.
Went to the dr, 3ven referred forward for a non urgent scan. ... turned out to be One Of Those Things.
The body is weird.

Bit I'm.glad I got it checked. Theres a small chance it could be ovarian problems.

Lemononachair · 26/11/2019 19:38

It's so weird! I think it's very unlikely that I am pregnant, especially with a mirena. I've been pregnant twice and was massive both times so I really think I'd know if I was but it just doesn't feel like 'muscle' movement if you see what I mean, feels deeper than that.

I've poked my belly and I can't feel anything untoward. No pain, no gas/wind. Not bloated just my normal amount of belly fat which makes me look bloated

It's so freaky, especially being able to watch it move.

I was fascinated by your post so went and looked it up. Apparently your colon can go into spasm and cause visible movement, as can stronger than usual peristalsis. A third option, which would be very unusual in the UK but is more common elsewhere, is an infestation with intestinal parasites.

I'd go to the doctor. Just the thought of parasites gives me a squirmy stomach.

Funnily enough a friend shared this on Facebook yesterday

I have experienced phantom feral kicks!

I have this too!! It's really disconcerting. I mostly feel the movements/spasms when I sneeze but I can just be sitting quietly and I can see my stomach move. Mine is always without fail on the far right hand side.

gamerchick · 26/11/2019 21:50

Your insides can move. It can feel like kicking or flutters. Spasms or wind moving about.

Mind, more freakily so can an aortic aneurysm. If its often then there's no harm asking your GP to have a feel and some reassurance.

1moresurvey · 26/11/2019 22:12

Please say it's not the same mirena coil for the 10 years? As they have a duration time of 5 years.
If it is a pregnancy fluttering you're feeling although a negative test has been shown your hormone levels would have dropped by this stage to give a false negative result. Best advice is see your doctor!

Myfanwyprice · 26/11/2019 22:19

I had this the week before I had appendicitis!! I was convinced I was pregnant, the movements were quite strong and I could see my stomach moving, it was making me feel quite unwell.

Haven’t had it again since I had my appendix removed.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 26/11/2019 22:23

Have a good prod first thing in the morning when you have a full bladder, you might be able to feel your womb if you're at the stage of visible movements from the outside. Probably just muscle spasm/phantom kicks though.

MaggieFS · 26/11/2019 22:29

Presumably not the exact same Mirena for 10 years?
