Menopause comment

I am early 40s and have my period every 28 days like clockwork. Today my DP asked if I thought I may be menopausal, implied that I pretend my period is still 28 days and maybe I should see a doctor! He said this to a woman on her period. AIBU for feeling homicidal? (He was serious). I told him that he had upset me but he doesn't get it.

At 54 blood tests mean nothing scary, it's only early menopause where they help to indicate declining oestrogen.

You've got to start again now! minimum another year! sorry Flowers As you can see, one day no oestrogen, the next day lots Grin It generally happens quicker after 53 though. (According to my research all those years ago, at 44 Shock)

Billie The Belgian doc was insistent I was in menopause! Different countries do it in different ways. She said HRT would be no good for me as I still had periods and so was producing oestrogen. I just wanted something for the insomnia, rattiness, hot flushes and night sweats.

I've been perimenopausal for about 5 years now, so I wish my system would get a flaming move on!

scary that's so interesting, I'm in Spain. They wanted to put me on antidepressant Hmm

So, a couple of REALLY clued up mumsnetters and 'menopause matters' website and Prof Studd in London website and I now buy OTC oestrogen and progesterone in Spain and avoid my 65 year old Spanish doctor. I can just buy the stuff. Luckily.

Thinning bones under 50? Risk of heart disease? Nah... antidepressants.
Hot flushes/ insomnia/ anxiety... Nah... antidepressants.

Can you tell I don't like men talking about menopause, they are all mainly thick. (Apart from lovely Prof Studd… European expert)

Honestly, if I were you I would be pleased my body was still producing at least some of the protaective hormones, I felt so let down at 44! 49 now... it's getting not worse but I feel 'old'.

Billie this doc is female about 35-40 I guess. Belgium has a different approach on many things. Given their propensity to over medicate Iw as surprised that HRT wasn't offered. Will reregister here and see what the UK does!

I have been having periods for over 40 years - I would like them to stop!

Scary teacher, I'm in the same boat as you, more or less.

I'm 53 and hoping that each one of my now horrendous periods (flooding) will be my last. Alas, no such luck yet and I get angry each time another comes knocking.

I'm having a hysteroscopy soon to check that there is no sinister cause for the problems, but I too have been having periods for over 40 years and would love them to stop. Why can't my body just be obedient and "get menopause done?"
