(I am usually a Labour voter so it's hardly a stretch for me, but this lot... fucking Corbyn, he should have been binned off three years ago)

SheOfManyNames · 25/11/2019 23:36

I'd vote Plaid Cymru r SNP if I could. Sadly Im in the very middle of the England Tory heartlands at the moment, although we did have a labour MP voted in for the first and last time in 1997. Sigh.

mrbob · 25/11/2019 23:39

I really don’t understand how people think the Tories will “fix” the country. They are the ones that fucked it up. They have had several years to make improvements and it has just got worse
Some people say “I don’t like Corbyn” so they will vote for a racist sexist DV perpetrating idiot Hmm I genuinely don’t understand how stupid some people are. I am not saying labour is perfect but what do you think in your life is going to get better with another however many years of the tories? It is like people voting for Trump
The whole thing makes me very glad I am overseas. Not that our government is any better- we have a choice of right wing or really right wing

mrbob · 25/11/2019 23:39

Also vote for the PARTY not the person

housemdwaswrong · 25/11/2019 23:40

Labour.
Reasons: Johnson is a serial liar, who porogued parliament to his own end. If he can override statutes and laws with a minority I don't know what he'd be capable of with a majority.

There are two criminal investigations pending.

I teach, and I'm worried about education.

I'm also worried that he holds enough power to prevent publishing of MI5 MI6 records because he doesn't like them.

Their welfare record is abhorrent and repugnant.

I like Corbyn. I don't think he's a leader by any stretch, but intrinsically, I like him. Labour needs a different leader, but we've had 3 Tory PMs in 3 years, leaders change.

Labour policies are best fit for me.

I have lupus, and it's the disease that keeps on giving lol. I spend a lot of time at appts in various departments, and the decline is obvious. I don't think it's going to be totally solved by Labour, but it definitely won't be solved by cutting nurses bursaries then claiming 50,000 news nurses when it's only 31,000, and claiming to build 40 hospitals when it's regenerating 6.

For the first time ever, I'm genuinely worried about this election. Really wow scared.

Wineandcheese88 · 25/11/2019 23:41

I love how lots of people are saying they are going to vote labour because of austerity, you all do realise it is labour that caused austerity by nearly bankrupting the country. Not Tory not Lib Dem not any other party. Labour caused ten mess. In other countries they saved and were able to deal with economic downturns, labour didn’t. You are al blaming the wrong people. Blame Gordon Brown for austerity blame Tony Blair not the Tory party.

Judemahmoodid · 25/11/2019 23:46

I am so conflicted to be doing this as I am an avid Remainer but I am voting Conservative to keep Corbyn out.
I thought about Lib Dem but can’t risk splitting the vote.
Random and irrelevant but if someone like David Milliband was head of the Labour Party, I’d consider voting Labour.

Pan2 · 25/11/2019 23:46

Austerity was a Tory choice as a reaction to a global recession. Not Labour.

Will vote Labour but would vote tactically if I had to. Tories are a bunch of cunts. Johnson would herald a fascist state with legal representation further restricted and no NHS.

Talkingmouse · 25/11/2019 23:46

Lib Dem: will not destroy the country via brexit; voting reform a top priority; reasonable people; drugs decriminalisation; pro nhs & decent public education for all; not funded by Russians/hedge funds; not racist.

ddl1 · 25/11/2019 23:51

LibDem. I have a good LibDem MP; it's the tactical anti-Tory vote in my constituency; and I'm not a fan of Corbyn, though I prefer him to Boris when push comes to shove.

housemdwaswrong · 25/11/2019 23:55

@Wineandcheese88 nothing to do with global banking then?

Poetryinaction · 25/11/2019 23:57

Labour
1 Get the Tories out
2 Boris is a tool
3 pro remain
4 education and healthcare are important
5 for the many not the few

SheOfManyNames · 26/11/2019 00:00

Quick question, for anyone that knows: if Boris were to lose his seat, what happens? Can he still be leader of the Tories (and thus PM)?

Birthdaycakemondays · 26/11/2019 00:00

Labour. Corbyn seems totally different to any other MP I’ve seen before him, god knows we need change. Maybe his it. Surprised to see so many are voting labour though, promising. I don’t talk to people in RL about politics, so wouldn’t know...

SheOfManyNames · 26/11/2019 00:01

Birthdaycakemondays I think this site is quite left-leaning. I'm sadly resigned to a Tory majority, or at best a hung parliament.

curlykaren · 26/11/2019 00:05

@Wineandcheese88 literally everyone knows the financial crash was caused by the sub prime mortgage crisis. Austerity was a political choice driven by ideology NOT a financial necessity.

housemdwaswrong · 26/11/2019 00:05

@SheOfManyNames if he loses his seat but Tories got a majority, he could continue as pm if he appointed himself a lord. Yes really, appointed himself. 😂

You would expect him to be pressurised into resigning, but with this lot who knows. Obviously, if they don't get a majority it's a moot point.

ginghambox · 26/11/2019 00:08

Labour
1 Get the Tories outGrin
2 Boris is a tool. agreed
3 pro remain.Unlucky.
4 education and healthcare are important Correct.
5 for the many not the few It is with a JJJ

Mumbliboo · 26/11/2019 00:13

Labour because our incumbent Labour MP is excellent and because I cannot support further decimation of the NHS by the Tories and the disgraceful treatment of the poorer in society in order to line the pockets of the rich..

LendAnEar · 26/11/2019 00:16

Labour

The conservatives are a bunch of lying pricks. Rich folk keeping the rich rich and the poor poor. I dont trust that they won't sell the NHS. They've done nothing but lie and wreck this county.

AdalindMeisner · 26/11/2019 00:30

I want to vote for lib dems (I appreciate there are issues with Jo Swinson but I am all for remaining and they are the only party willing to back that) but I will have to vote for Labour to keep tories out.

al2616 · 26/11/2019 00:35

Why is it that whenever someone is asked why they want to vote Conservative their answer always starts with "but Labour..."? Seriously, find your own stance on things and stop trying to put others down! If anyone has any actual reasons to support for the party who can't tell the difference between fact and fiction (even when it is coming out of their own mouths) then I would be very interested to hear it.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 26/11/2019 00:47

I don't understand people who say they'd vote for so and so party but they don't like the leader.
Eg Corbyn
I mean, surely it's the party and what their policies are is important, not the person?
It's not the X Factor or whatever, voting for your fave personality Confused

housemdwaswrong · 26/11/2019 00:56

@wot I've always said this, as roles can change as demonstrated by the tories. I've always been policies not personalities.

However, Johnson had changed my view a little. I naively it seems, thought that there were checks and balances in place to keep personalities at bay. However he does what he wants, and no one stops him. That scares me. He can do so much damage in such a short time, that for the first time ever, I have taken personalities into account.

tabulahrasa · 26/11/2019 01:28

“I mean, surely it's the party and what their policies are is important, not the person?”

Well yes and no... I mean if I liked what was in the Tory manifesto, I still wouldn’t trust that that’s what Boris intends to deliver or is capable of delivering.
