My son (12) has had cold like symptoms today. Thought nothing of it really. This evening he’s got worse. Temperature won’t come below 39 on full doses of Calpol and ibuprofen every 2 hours.
He’s sleeping fitfully, sweating lots and shivering.
Breathing is a little fast but not massively so.
What do I do for the best?
Wake him at 11 for his next dose? Leave him be?
Thanks

Oh op, what did 111 say? Hope you're both ok

ChickenofDoom · 25/11/2019 12:45

Hope he is feeling better this morning?

OctoberLovers · 25/11/2019 15:46

Hope your both ok OP

I had this recently with my 1 year old DD, we took her to the hospital at GP request. Hospital confirmed there are quite a few nasty Flu strains around, and unfortunately our daughter had contracted one. Keep at the calpol and ibuprofen, the fever will eventually break but as they said, you will have some good days and some bad days before that happens. I'd wake him for his meds, our little one ends up red hot otherwise. You'll find he drops right off to sleep again anyway.

Hope you're both ok today x

Changednamesorry · 25/11/2019 22:23

Take him to A&E.

OctoberLovers · 26/11/2019 14:36

Youve left people worrying about your son on this thread, haven't come back to it, but you've made a new thread about what present to get your husband....

You could of done the decent thing and gave an update.

(If at hospital or something, completely understand that you wouldnt, but youve made another thread about something completely different, bit rude OP)

zippyswife · 26/11/2019 15:01

Maybe her head is all over the place. Similar happened to me with ds before christmas 2 years ago. He was treated for sepsis and kept in several days- I stayed with him but during that time I probably sent inane texts and put inane posts on here. Sometimes it’s how you cope.

OctoberLovers · 26/11/2019 15:06

Zippy.... If in hospital / poorly.

I completely would not expect an update.

Your child is your priority

But she has made another thread this morning about Christmas presents

And i find that annoying, only takes seconds, to come back and tell us her son is ok, thanks for the advice, blah blah

JJSS123 · 26/11/2019 15:29

Completely agree October.

Bluemascara4 · 26/11/2019 17:20

Agree @JJSS123 and @OctoberLovers ....

I hope her son is ok

honeyloops · 26/11/2019 17:24

Nobody owes anyone an update to a thread, even if it would be nice. Let's hope that her making another, unrelated thread means he's fine and just be glad of that.

zippyswife · 26/11/2019 18:41

Agree honey

OctoberLovers · 26/11/2019 19:14

I didnt say she owes anyone an update.

I just said it would of been nice, especially as we all took the time to give advice, thats all
