I just don't get how anyone can watch this glorified animal abuse. If you enjoy watching celebs eating pig uterus and insects etc then i think you are tacky and judge you. Sorry.

marshmallowss · 22/11/2019 16:54

@Thestrangestthing because they don't get harmed when crawling all over a celebrities face. Better alive than dead.
Places like longleat allow the handling of insects and reptiles. How is this any different.
The shoes bosses have also stated that eating trials will no longer allow live bugs. They all have to be dead.

HairyFloppins · 22/11/2019 16:55

Just ban everything then no one can get offended.

Brimful · 22/11/2019 16:57

Do you also object to Masterchef?

I'd also love to know this. Are you vegan, OP?

UOkhun77 · 22/11/2019 16:58

It’s unfathomable to me how anyone could enjoy that lowest common denominator crap. I’ve only ever seen snippets, most recently the Jenner person and some other lady in boxes filled with rats and insects. Surely it must be horrible for the rats to have some dickhead screaming at them and many of the insects must get squashed to varying degrees. I’m with you OP, definitely judging.

Happygoldfinch · 22/11/2019 17:08

Can't the celebs just eat each other?

DriftingLeaves · 22/11/2019 17:09

I can't get worked up about it. Far more important things going on than a TV programme.

Leflic · 22/11/2019 17:11

Being eaten alive is the standard death for most insects in the wild.
Great the people don’t want to do it gratuitously but it won’t change the inevitable outcome.

Babybel90 · 22/11/2019 17:12

I’ve never watched it, Big Brother or Love Island because the premise seems degrading to the participants in a way other reality shows aren’t.

dontlickthelamp · 22/11/2019 17:12

So are you a vegan then OP?

Happymum12345 · 22/11/2019 17:17

I enjoy the programme apart from the animal/insect side of it all. There’s enough drama without that added.

Househunt1 · 22/11/2019 17:18

Really upset that a random person on mumsnet is judging me, gonna think about this all night now whilst I watch I'm a celebrity and think about how you will be sitting there at home judging me

Grannybags · 22/11/2019 17:20

I can live with your judgement to be honest.

Doggodogington · 22/11/2019 17:20

I’ll Just add it to the list of the things I do that I could be judged for 😂 I care not a jot!

Alittleprivacyplease · 22/11/2019 17:22

Well the British veterinary association agrees with you op
www.bva.co.uk/news-campaigns-and-policy/newsroom/news-releases/vets-heap-criticism-on-itv-for-lax-animal-welfare-standards-on--i-m-a-celeb-/
It's more the rough handling and throwing of the animals that veterinary professionals are objecting too rather than the eating challenges.

Becky11 · 22/11/2019 17:25

Don't be so ridiculous. I have been a vegetarian for 30 years and do not and should not take objection to other people's choices. There are no live insects eaten. All are already dead. Can you imagine taking offense to every bacon bap consumed on TV.

user1480880826 · 22/11/2019 17:26

I’m confused. I’ve never watched it but even I know they have banned eating live insects.

What’s the problem with eating a pigs placenta? How is it any different from eating any other part of a pig?

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 22/11/2019 17:26

Vegans Hmm

malificent7 · 22/11/2019 17:26

I think eating questionable parts of animals for entertainment is abusive yes.

OP posts:
malificent7 · 22/11/2019 17:27

Im not a vegan.

OP posts:
QuestionableMouse · 22/11/2019 17:27

I don't watch but can't see how eating a spider is much different to some of the ways people kill them in their homes every day.

Also not convinced that grubs etc have much sentience.

malificent7 · 22/11/2019 17:28

I just wouldn't waggle my bacon or offal around to entertain the masses. The celebs are desperate for career revivals too.

OP posts:
lilgreen · 22/11/2019 17:28

I agree that live things should not be eaten and thought they had banned it this year. Other than that, meat is meat.

SoupDragon · 22/11/2019 17:28

I think eating questionable parts of animals for entertainment is abusive yes.

The animal has been slaughtered for food already. Please explain how is is abusive to eat any part of that animal rather than throw it away?

WorraLiberty · 22/11/2019 17:28

I think eating questionable parts of animals for entertainment is abusive yes.

It's not like they're still alive or like they were killed specifically so someone could eat its arse hole Confused

firstimemamma · 22/11/2019 17:28

Yanbu.

Fishing objects out of a big pit of snakes. Just wrong.
