One pair of trousers and two tops

AIBU to ask for help with clothes?

I have one pair of black trousers and two black tops. Two bras. Lots of pants and socks. One coat. That’s it.

My clothes fit into a small drawer.

I’m 5’2 and 16 stone. Losing weight slowly and carefully. But nothing looks good so I wear my “uniform” of clothes that look ok and are comfortable. I wash the trousers every couple of nights and wear a clean top every day.

I’m realising that some people just won’t believe this. Honestly, I find it crazy myself.

I do have more clothes but they’re too small. Probably about a dozen tops? A dress or two?

I just don’t know where to shop, what to buy, how not to waste money when I am getting slimmer slowly but surely. And also, everything looks awful on me because I’m so big anyway.

Help? I’m at work and running back into a meeting but I promise to check back ASAP

Is there anyone else who wears basically the same things day in and day out? Am I a total freak? (Perhaps don’t answer that!)

I am a couple of stone heavier than you and fucking love seasalt. The best bit for me is that their website has the precise measurements of each garment as well as the size so I can get a good idea of what will fit before I order. They do things in petite and tall lengths too.

I'm fascinated by people who say they have almost no clothes.
Especially if they changed size coz surely you end up with lots & lots you can't wear.
I wish all my clothes fit in one drawer!

Does OP sleep nude? No exercise clothes, no layers, just coat + one thin top? Wow. How can this suit all temperatures & activities?

Some blokes at work have a 'uniform' 4-5 days/week. Maybe an alternate, possibly single, outfit for dress-down Fridays & weekends. They could be wearing the exact same clothes every day, for all I know.

I rarely shop outside Charity shops. Last 12 yrs I doubt I spent more than £40/yr on clothes (leaving aside shoes). Still I have heaps.

This thread inspired me to do some kind of inventory of where my clothes came from...

Just clean tops that aren't sleeveless or full long sleeve:

Cast-offs from DC or someone else: 3
Bought in charity shop to be smart at work: 3 (2 of these are the most recent purchase, 10 months ago, for new job)
Other tops (half-length sleeve, not office smart) I got in charity shops: 5
Lycra exercise top: 1
Charity/political cause purchase: 1
Unsure, but probably charity shop leisure wear: 2

I would buy nice clothes that fit you now and which will hold a lot of their value so you can sell them when they are too large for you. I would book a personal shopper appointment somewhere and get them to help you find the clothes which do look good on you. If you have a friend you trust with that sort of thing, take them as well.

As a size 22/24 the best bit of advice I have been given is to dress for the size you are and not what you want to be. I'm loosing weight (really slowly!) but I've started buying clothes that I like and I feel that I look nice in (trying not to care what anyone else thinks). I've found it's made me feel much more confident in myself which then has an effect on my weight loss which then again makes me feel more confident.
I generally buy from next, simply be, curvissa and new look with a few supermarket staples thrown in. And if I find something that I like and fits me well then I will buy several of the same in different colours
