when switching to a new device..

I had to try logging in again as someone new AGAIN because that was the only option AGAIN as old laptop has died. Unless DH can save it that is it. MN accepted the same password on the new account. . When i did try to post under new name i just kept gettin g the OOPS message. This has gone way past being funny. Ive had no problem with facebook or twitter in switching to the new device.

When i went up to Register or Sign In the only option was to Register There were no other screen options

Looks like unless DH can fix my own laptop and it possibly stays logged in i will not be able to access my EIGHT year old account and watchlist.

Ive also had to hop back to an old e mail account which Talk Talk have now put a limited time on to even get back here Quite frankly i dont know why i bother. I am NOT willing to micro manage this. I get quite enough of that in RL This site seems to have problem after problem after problem IT wise and i am utterly utterly sick of it.

If this is a sign that my time here is over then so be it. Im willing to accept that rather than pissarse about like this.

Ive had some good times on here though. But maybe this is a sign that its time for me to find somewhere else.

Re: your spacing I think there might be something wrong with your keyboard settings on your computer. That could definitely cause your spacing issue

@LaurenDemeter I see you quoted my post from February about login issues, I'd forgotten about all that, it was a massive PITA at the time! It did sort itself out for me eventually although I can't remember how. Hope you don't have any further problems; you could change your username to something close to HelenaDove if you wanted people to know you?

I would sign in on your old laptop and put a new email address in your dove account, but I think you have had your account deactivated, even so, it could be reactivated?

Just signed in on new laptop on chrome. I signed in using the click google account option - I was already signed in to my email if that makes a difference?

For a minute I thought Helena Dove was some celebrity that I was going to have to google.

The sign up/sign in screen are the same thing, that's why you're not seeing other option because log in and new account creation are done from that same screen, if the email you add is already register with mumsnet then the next screen prompts for your mumsnet password entry. If you enter an email that's never been used on mumsnet then it detects you as a new person and you're asked to choose a password and username to create your new account with.

Have attached screenshots. The second one is logging in to an already created account and is what you should see when entering your helenadove email. The third screen is what you're seeing if you're trying to enter an email that's not registered with mumsnet at all.

This is the screen I get for chrome log in, if I enter my registered email address, the next screen asks me to enter my mumsnet password and then I'm in my regular account of ten years.

If I enter a different email then it detects it's a new account and starts that process and knows it's a new I'm asked to "choose" a password as well as a username and create a new account.

If I do it via "continue with google" the same thing happens, if I log in via the gmail already linked then I'm straight into my regular account, clicking a google account to access that's never been used and I'm asked to choose a username.

What was happening when you used your HelenaDove email and password?

I didnt get Welcome Back I just got Register. I went up to the top of the MN site on the right where it says Register or Sign In. I just got Register.

Leaving aside all the name change / login issues, I find the double-spacing you use really irritating 😑

Ok I know, bigger problems etc - but you do it all the time, it can't be just the odd accidental hitting of the space bar, as you suggested earlier.

How have you been able to delete your account if you can't login to it?
