when switching to a new device..

I had to try logging in again as someone new AGAIN because that was the only option AGAIN as old laptop has died. Unless DH can save it that is it. MN accepted the same password on the new account. . When i did try to post under new name i just kept gettin g the OOPS message. This has gone way past being funny. Ive had no problem with facebook or twitter in switching to the new device.

When i went up to Register or Sign In the only option was to Register There were no other screen options

Looks like unless DH can fix my own laptop and it possibly stays logged in i will not be able to access my EIGHT year old account and watchlist.

Ive also had to hop back to an old e mail account which Talk Talk have now put a limited time on to even get back here Quite frankly i dont know why i bother. I am NOT willing to micro manage this. I get quite enough of that in RL This site seems to have problem after problem after problem IT wise and i am utterly utterly sick of it.

If this is a sign that my time here is over then so be it. Im willing to accept that rather than pissarse about like this.

Ive had some good times on here though. But maybe this is a sign that its time for me to find somewhere else.

I had same problem a few weeks ago.

On firefox now and not Chrome. This is the same problem that BloodyBridget had back in Feb.

And i now have two accounts on here from two diff e mail addresses but with the same password.

You've been here donkeys years and know the site can be glitchy understatement at times so it seems a bit extreme to throw your teddies out of the pram over this.

Are you sure you haven't been banned? when it happens you get no notice or explanation ... just comes the day when you can't log in.

Other laptop has bee fixed so was able to sign as HD with no trouble on Firefox

Try to sign in on Chrome. Nope not happening.

No. No ban. MN e mailed about this two weeks ago so we have had communication about this.

If it was the first time the throwing away the teddies out the pram comment would have some relevance but this site has problem after problem.

What happens when you put your original email address and password in?
Does it not allow you to just log in?

Not on Chrome no. And the old laptop is on its last legs.

Are you saying that you can log in on the laptop with your old name but you can't log into your old name on Chrome?
If so that doesn't sound like it's a ban if you can do it on one of them.
If you can't log into either on any device with your old name that sounds like a ban (I'm obvs no expert though!)
You say you've been communicating with MN about bans the other week to see if it was that?
Why would you think you could be to be talking about it in the first place?
You haven't had any strikes or whatever on FWR have you?

May be teaching you to suck eggs but have you tried clearing all the cookies, cache, history from chrome and the saved passwords linked to mn sites?

Of course you can have multiple accounts under different emails with the same password. I am sure there are 1000s of people who use qwerty123 or password12 but the account would be linked by the email address, the website wouldn't give a stuff over the password.

I have had issues in the past with other websites via IE so my go to would always be try another programme like firefox or chrome. Sometimes they can get stuck in a loop of saved information or settings preventing a site from working properly and may not necessarily be the sites fault.

Correct @Volvemos Rhythm and Stealth started them on the Chat board. As it was in the days when the Chat board deleted threads after 90 days. i got them moved over to the News board so they wouldnt disappear into the ether.

Ive now deactivated the Helena Dove account. I shall use this one.

Ah apologies rhythm did do the first five, sorry, but Helena stands in my memory as she was last woman standing on thread 6 and also created later thread two years after when for others it was yesterday's snow. I admired her persistence and commitment is all.

I think some posters are being mean.
Why wouldn't a long term poster who built up online friends, relationships good and bad feel upset their long term log in was gone.
Especially a poster who highlighted the Grenfell towers and issues around it.
Mnet has been a life line to many posters.

@MNHQ Ive deleted my old account and will use this one. Its easier . Old laptop was flickering and dying once DH got it working so i didnt have long to make up my mind
