I fell out with her a couple of years ago because of her lying and dropping me in it.
Today is her birthday and I booked a table for 1pm to go for a Italian meal.
Bought her a gift and a little cake etc
Text her happy birthday at 9am no reply.
I went to town anyway where we were meant to meet and said "are we still meeting at 1pm"
No reply
Text me 15 mins ago saying
"I'm so so sorry"
Then said ring me
I did ...and she puts her sick voice on
"I am so I'll,I woke up vomiting this morning"
She's full of shit,if she was a actress she wouldn't win a Oscar.
Any other friends I would believe them but from our history I know when she's lying
Aibu here to be annoyed ?
She asked to arrange for another day I just said I'm busy

Her loss op you sound such a lovely friend. Save your time and energy on people who will appreciate it x

Drum2018 · 20/11/2019 20:56

If you don't want the present for yourself then definitely return it.

Longfacenow · 20/11/2019 20:58

SadForNoReason- all it takes is a call or text that morning though. Letting someone down repeatedly at the time of meeting when they are there already or on the way is so rude and uncaring and just cold!

underneaththeash · 20/11/2019 20:59

Just don't text back.

Taswama · 20/11/2019 21:03

I think you need higher standards of what you accept from your ‘friends’ OP. I agree with PP
Eat the cake. Ditch the flake.

loopyhatter · 21/11/2019 07:35

Thanks everyone.
It's the fact she will have seen my texts and ignored them till well over a hour after we were meant to meet.
Full of you know what ....

I would give her one more chance. Re-arrange her birthday treat, somewhere really nice, maybe at a nearby town, just for a nice change of scene. Then don’t turn up.

loopyhatter · 21/11/2019 12:57

@Chunkers ha ha for a moment I thought you were wanting me to actually give her another try

Well you enable her behaviour by putting up with it.

loopyhatter · 21/11/2019 13:06

@misspiggy19 I know,I totally do
Very stupid
