Am I being unreasonable to think there must be more than one blimmin houmous factory in the whole of the UK?
Its never coming back is it ?
I've tried making my own and it's a faff (and horrible).

usernotfound0000 · 18/11/2019 13:10

Why aren't more people talking about this crisis Wink I haven't been able to get hold of any for weeks, NW too. Asda, Morrisons, Aldi and Sainsburys are all out.

dementedpixie · 18/11/2019 13:12

Dh bought some in Tesco at the weekend

eenymeenyminyme · 18/11/2019 13:14

DD only likes Asda houmous and they've not had it for weeks.

Wish I'd known and I'd have kept the ingredients list to try and make my own!

ilovetofu · 18/11/2019 13:15

Make it with tinned chick peas op and add the water from the tin - makes it really creamy.

ilovetofu · 18/11/2019 13:16

(Love this thread btw Grin)

Ghostwolf · 18/11/2019 13:21

How long does homemade last? ☺

JingsMahBucket · 18/11/2019 15:15

@Ghostwolf nearly a week in the fridge.

Novemberblu3s · 18/11/2019 15:18

make your own. soooooo much nicer and cheaper...

ClaraThePigeon · 18/11/2019 15:18

Not all areas have a shortage. My local Sainsbury's and Tesco were full of the stuff the other day. I had no trouble buying a tub.

iolaus · 18/11/2019 15:27

My local sainsburys had/have loads

Co op has it

Lulualla · 18/11/2019 15:54

What could someone possibly say on a thread about houmous which is delete-worthy?

megletthesecond · 18/11/2019 16:01

There was none in Morrisons at the weekend.

I made houmous once. It was a rare food that actually tasted worse homemade.

usernotfound0000 · 18/11/2019 16:24

Lulualla haha I was wondering that too!

Wrongdissection · 18/11/2019 16:28

This has had me distressed for weeks!! I’m glad we’re finally talking about the big issues here on MN.

Ginfordinner · 18/11/2019 17:46

I went to Tesco to buy some tinned chickpeas, and there were hardly any left!
No Napolina brand, and three tins of own brand.

Lulualla · 18/11/2019 17:47

I've got 35 tina of chickpeas and 22 time of butterbeans in cupboard, and people always think I'm mad. But the great houmous shortage of 2019 has proven me right!

BarbaraofSeville · 18/11/2019 18:13

Bloody hell, there's a knock on chick pea shortage now?

You should get your stockpile on eBay Lulu, you'll make a fortune.

There was loads of hummus in Waitrose this morning, Moorish, Sabra and Waitrose Essential brands, I believe. There might have been some gaps, so not a full selection though.

MitziK · 18/11/2019 18:22

You poor things.

(strolls off to the Turkish supermarket round the corner to pick up a huge tub).

egontoste · 18/11/2019 19:05

Now this is the issue that the Fail and all the other gladrags should be quoting us on...

"Children Suffering As Food Shortage Continues - Hardworking Parents In Despair"

blacksax · 18/11/2019 19:08

You know what's going to happen now, don't you?

All the shops will be left with shelves groaning under the weight of uneaten pitta breads and ready-prepared carrot batons.

Ginfordinner · 18/11/2019 20:48

Or everyone will discover how easy it is to make hummus and won't buy ready made any more.

Wrongdissection · 18/11/2019 20:52

No one has been forthcoming with a decent recipe though!

And I need quantities. Not a splodge of this and a dash of that. Because I promise you. I’ll end up with slop otherwise.
