Just that.
Although he is being asked the wrong questions.

Over the years there have been many instances of people accusing public figures of all kinds of things

Over the years there have been many instances of public figures being involved in sordid activities with under aged members of the public. Public figures who were untouchable due to their status.

Your style of posting is really odd tbh and you are not coming across well on this thread.

I’ve got no back story at all but still get furious at the treatment of women in our society.

And no, accusing extremely rich and powerful men of sex trafficking and abuse is not a road to fame and riches. She has maintained her story for a decade, even after being told she could not and would not be heard in court. She has never been sued. She has got very little from this.

Christine Blasey Ford now lives under police protection. She can tell you how much she gained from standing up and talking about Brett Kavanagh. She’s not alone.

IcedPurple Sun 17-Nov-19 12:33:14 great post.

Roussette · 17/11/2019 12:36

TanteRose

Totally agree. Some of the girls were recruited by GG (ghastly Ghislaine) from Trump's Mar-a-Lago. One was a locker room attendant earning a pittance and was just 15. Ghislaine recruited her as a masseuse for Epstein.

For posters to say they were in it for the money are disgusting.

Ghislaine procured these girls, took their passports, maintained them, kept them under Epstein's influence. She was a procurer of hundreds of girls for him and how she's escaped justice so far god alone knows.

And how PA can still call her a friend, I do not know. Like father like daughter... her father pillaged all the pension funds from his news org then chucked himself off a yacht when the net was closing. Yet PA was a very good friend of hers... that says a lot about him, his morals, his judgement.

I have no idea if PA is guilty of anything but I would like to think this interview buries him good and proper.

Butchyrestingface · 17/11/2019 12:37

But it's not up to Emily M to act as prosecuting barrister, or the public to say he's guilty because he's an unpopular prince.

She didn't. She asked him questions, as is the nature of an INTERVIEW. Sure, she had a face on her like a slapped arse but she obviously subscribes to the Emma-Willis-when-interviewing-Roxanne-Pallett school of thought. She merely gave him enough rope to hang himself, she didn't MAKE him say the stuff he said and even gave him the opportunity to correct himself (the "unbecoming" comments).

His "I didn't used to sweat BUT NOW I DO" defence had to be the absolute nadir of excuses. Grin

Clearly he's never heard of the old adage, "better to keep your mouth shut and only have people think you're a lying bastard, than to open it and remove all doubt."

churchandstate · 17/11/2019 12:38

And I would have liked to have seen him say some other things, like he is guilty of exercising terrible judgment, like he was overly impressed by wealth and status, like he should have asked more questions, like he will direct his considerable resources towards helping the victims of sexual exploitation. You know, react like a human being instead of snickering like a child.

If he was guilty I do not think for one minute he'd have put himself forward for a 1 hr grilling. No one unless they have wonderful acting skills could carry that off and I don't think he was acting

Firstly he didn’t carry it off, he obfuscated and lied throughout. Secondly, I think he heard it was Maitlis and mistook her for a pushover because her interview style is quiet and polite. Big mistake. I doubt he’d have agreed to Paxman or Humphreys.

Butchyrestingface · 17/11/2019 12:39

I will admit, nice of him to take the heat off MM for a moment and let it land squarely where it belongs, but I doubt that will do much to slow the ever-present slew of MM/PH hating posts on the MN boards.

Roussette · 17/11/2019 12:40

Emily M did not act like a prosecutor! HE wanted to do the interview. HE chose to. How he answered the questions is up to him.

He fucked it up good and proper. HIS fault.

Butchyrestingface · 17/11/2019 12:44

Big mistake. I doubt he’d have agreed to Paxman or Humphreys.

Paxman. What a thought. Grin

This makes a wonderful change from the Meghan hating threads. Very refreshing because this odious man deserves a drubbing. She doesn't

Anotherblokelurking · 17/11/2019 12:47

The young woman in the picture looks the picture of health and happiness, relaxed and beaming. If she came from a poor background being flown around the world meeting royalty and millionaires must have seemed quite glamorous at first until the reality dawned.

flopsytheflatcat · 17/11/2019 12:47

Why is he not being interviewed by the police? Would anyone else get the option of a) the police or b) a nice BBC interview. It's a fucking joke.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 17/11/2019 12:48

I once served Prince Edward in a restaurant in Edinburgh in August 1994. It's not the sort of thing you forget - I probably couldn't tell you the exact date, but it was a weekend night bc we had to cancel some other reservations. The Pizza Express 'alibi' would be easy to verify beyond reasonable doubt, but then there's no reason why he couldn't have gone to Pizza Express in Woking then, I dunno, driven to another place by 11pm, FFS. The alibi is no alibi at all.

churchandstate · 17/11/2019 12:49

And I would have liked to hear him say that these allegations are baseless and profoundly untrue. Not that he had to search his memory of that time to see whether there was any foundation to them. I would have liked to hear him say that he has zero sexual interest in young girls and wouldn’t have participated in any such behaviour even given the opportunity.

doritosdip · 17/11/2019 12:53

I think that some people are confusing rape and trafficking victims to those woman who have a ONS with a rich person like a football player and make money from their story in the tabloids or people like Kim Kardashian who make a sex tape and get rich. This is not the case. I can't think of any women who were rape victims and made their money and fortune.

There are single women who make money from their affairs with married men (say Rebecca Loos) but the fame was short lived and she was treated far worse than David Beckham.

Butchyrestingface · 17/11/2019 12:53

Can we all join together to wish Meghan, Harry and the wean a very happy Xmas at her maw's pad in the US?

Even if Sam and bad daddy gatecrash the festivities, the atmosphere will still (probably) end up being a lot lighter than Christmas 2019 at Balmoral. 🎅🏻🎄🎁

Hellomumsne · 17/11/2019 12:55

Hehe, I also loved the "I was there because I'm too honourable" comment followed by the 'I'm not a sweaty rapist because I was a hero who was shot at in the army'... hilarious. His daughters must be cringing.

doritosdip · 17/11/2019 12:55

Thanksgiving first - I think that she'll be thankful that the heat isn't on her for a change.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/11/2019 12:56

Can something be done about this man?

Not unless the Queen withdraws her support for her ghastly offspring, and that's never going to happen

As Laurie correctly said, "Don’t feel sorry for her. She’s indulged him for years and is a big part of why he’s turned out such an entitled man child"

doublebarrellednurse · 17/11/2019 13:06

To be fair.. I have many dear friends who if they were accused of something terrible and If they assured me they were totally innocent , I'd believe them unless I had significant proof otherwise. I've known them for years and know them to be good decent people. I don't think the fact that a person is 'accused of of something automatically makes them guilty of it.

Epstein. Was. Convicted. In. A. Court.

Prince Andrew then popped round to stay cause NY is bereft of hotels.

CJDoesTheJackal · 17/11/2019 13:06

A post from Jeremy Vine on FB:

The focus on #PrinceAndrew has made me feel I can tell a story about him I heard recently. He was at an event for Falklands veterans, which involved him staying overnight at the home of a senior military figure. The event was not centred on the Duke of York but he was treated with courtesy throughout. The following morning he rose a little later than the rest and went down to find them all at breakfast already. When he arrived at the door to the kitchen the other guests — about half a dozen — greeted him by saying “Good morning” and “Good morning, sir.” Andrew paused and replied, “Well, I think we should try that again, shouldn't we — ” meaning that, as HRH, he expected the other guests to stand when he walked in. In the uncomfortable pause which followed, the military figure’s wife, who was serving breakfast, said: “I think they did just fine, didn't they? This is my house after all. Now please do sit down and I will bring your breakfast.”

Something else I remembered from last night's documentary. PA said he's not competitive. Yet I remember him making a point, on TV, of there being more guests at his daughter's wedding vs PH and MM's, hence the venue.

DuckWillow · 17/11/2019 13:06

Personally I’d love to see one of the body language experts review that.

Mark Williams-Thomas on Twitter this morning picked up the classic delaying “I don’t recall” tactic,
