Just breathed in some green mould dust from a lemon.

I was clearing out our fruit bowl and found a very green dusty mouldy lemon at the bottom. As I went to throw it in the bin a large cloud of the mouldy dust flew up into my face and I’ve managed to inhale a good few lung fulls!

Should I be worried and evacuating the house or just carry on with my Friday evening gin and tonic.

The more I’m thinking about it the more I’m coughing!

Poor OP. Stop taking the pith everyone.

123Pandora · 16/11/2019 01:09

Look out world. We have patient zero about to start a lemon dust pandemic that will wipe out humanity!

DangerClose · 16/11/2019 01:14

My lemons are in your fruit bowl. Where else should they be?

Why are your lemon's in OP's fruit bowl??

Or is this some kind of euphemism? Shock

Mjlp · 16/11/2019 01:29

You need to be rushed to A&E immediately or you'll die within the next few seconds! [Joke!]

The same thing happened to me once. The green mould went in my mouth, nose and eyes and then.... nothing, absolutely nothing happened. I was absolutely fine & you will be absolutely fine. Just carry on with your gin and tonic 🥂

sobeyondthehills · 16/11/2019 01:31

Someone somewhere is going to hunt you down for keeping lemons in a fruit bowl.

Seriously what type of monster are you?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 16/11/2019 01:38

I have two fruit bowls. One for apples, plums, satsumas etc, then the other one has lemons/limes, things like pineapple or grapefruit, avocados and currently a ball of string and DP's keys and wallet.

1forAll74 · 16/11/2019 01:48

I keep my lemons in the fruit bowl, maybe with some satsumas. Lemons, and limes.tend to lose their proper nice flavours if kept in a fridge and used straight away . Room temperature is best.

PhilCornwall1 · 16/11/2019 06:03

I'm surprised nobody has suggested ringing 111 or hell, 101 for that matter!! Grin

Gin is the devils work Envy you'll need to call 111 if you drink that stuff!!

honeygirlz · 16/11/2019 07:12

ve managed to inhale a good few lungfulls

Why did you inhale nore than once? Shock

ColdRainAgain · 16/11/2019 07:45

I'm sure you will be fine as a one off inhalation.

My lemons are in the fruit bowl. Used for G&T, squeezing on pancakes and making lemon drizzle cakes.

FlamingoAndJohn · 16/11/2019 07:52

Surely everyone has a dedicated drinks cabinet?

When I was young many people did. My parents still do. They have a cupboard in the living room with glasses etc in it and a ‘silver’ tray on top with various bottles of whisky, port, sherry etc.

Squigean · 16/11/2019 08:08

You didn't put it in the compost?

You have lemon in your gin and tonic, not cucumber or lime!!

You don't have children who prefer fruit to sweets and adore it do much they ate all the fruit and revealed the lemon before it went mouldy!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't have specialised lemon storage facility!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/11/2019 08:18

Op hasn’t responded for 14 hours. I think she’s a goner. 😭

BuildBuildings · 16/11/2019 08:25

I used to have quite bad health anxiety so I would have previously got worked up about this so I understand . But you're going to be fine!

Puzzledbyart · 16/11/2019 08:36

Green mould on citrus fruit is actually the penicillin producing fungus. If anything, it made you more healthy. But of course you have added to the problem of antibiotic resistance with your careless actions.

SamBeckett · 17/11/2019 10:15

@PhilCornwall1

We are both going to get booted of MN Shock

@Squigean Grin Grin >>hands over a oxygen mask

In reality I’m a very hassled slightly overweight menopausal Middle aged women battling my children to bed every night so I can have half an hour of peace before I collapse into bed so I can do it all again tomorrow* 😀

It's like I'm looking in a mirror!

BBInGinDrinking · 17/11/2019 16:57

Reading those anti-gin posts made me look like I'm sucking a lemon. Still, it just means more gin for me and the rest of us with extremely good taste.

SamBeckett · 21/11/2019 22:03

@BBInGinDrinking
You are welcome to my gin as long as I can have your dark rum🥃😀

1Morewineplease · 21/11/2019 23:59

anxioussue · 22/11/2019 00:24

To be on the safe side you should have an extra gin to kill off the mould spores

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 22/11/2019 03:09

Isn't penicillin made from mould therefore you've actually er..protected yourself against infection?
(Disclaimer: I'm talking bollocks)

BBInGinDrinking · 22/11/2019 04:03

Gargling with gin is also essential in these circumstances, surely?

It's a deal, @SamBeckett
