That's It- I have had enough of bras!

After another uncomfortable day with an underwire poking me I've thrown it away and resorted to a comfy sleep bra for the day that gives me monoboob but I don't care. I'm a 38 E so need something soft and comfy. I'm perimenopausal and fed up of all the stupid uncomfortable things women have to wear.
GRRR

Weekend shopping for soft comfortable bras ahead- any recommendations?

I read your thread title as "I've had enough of BROS" and was going to say the eighties are a long time ago and you need to get over it...

My bad, as you were.

Butterflycookie · 12/11/2019 12:46

I buy non wired bra from M&S. no other bra on the high street will fit me and they al have a bit of padding. But the ones I buy don’t. I’m a 36/38 G. www.marksandspencer.com/total-support-striped-non-wired-full-cup-bra-b-g/p/clp22198584?prevPage=srp

Ugh my nemesis right now. Burn all the tools of the patriarchy! Grin

Tried sloggi zero feel recently and was really disappointed. And now I'm pregnant again it's going to get even more difficult! I just want someone to present me with a bra that's comfortable, supports and fits well and doesn't cost the earth. Is that too much to ask?!

Rockbird · 12/11/2019 13:16

If anyone can find one of those soft sports bra type things for a 40K I will love you forever. Most of the ones I try have me kicking my tits down the road in front of me Hmm so I live in M&S total support non wired which are fine and comfortable enough but I'm bored stiff with them and I want something comfier.

AlphaLemon · 12/11/2019 13:18

I’ve only ever had small boobs and pretty much gave up on bras, but pregnancy means I have to wear them again 😭

hellsbellsmelons · 12/11/2019 13:22

I'm so with you OP.
I did this last week.
And I'm a 36B!!!

I have comfy pull on soft bra/tops now.
So much happier.
I got mine from Asda.

crochetmonkey74 · 12/11/2019 14:04

Thank you everyone- am going to check them all out!

I buy these

https://www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2722054_c323/padded-lace-crop-top-pink

I've had lumpectomies in both breasts and lymph node removal so I have to be very careful what I wear! I was ecstatic when I found these and have them in 4 different colours now. As a bonus they give you a lovely shape and wash well Smile

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 12/11/2019 16:49

I've always hated underwires they just dig into my ribs.

Fortunately I am blessed with small breasts so for the most part can get away without wearing bras at all. A lycra mix vest top works for me in most circumstances.

bonzo77 · 12/11/2019 17:04

28FF or 30F here. Cannot deal with wires. I wear a bra by a brand called Cake. The style is sugar candy or Crush. Reasonable support, not too grim to look at and no monoboob. They’re not cheap but I only have 3 and that’s plenty. They come in nursing and normal styles.

nilcarborundum · 12/11/2019 17:30

Just to add I'm a size 40 D

Itsarainyday555 · 12/11/2019 19:02

Can anyone recommending the Molke bras tell me whether they're shapely enough to wear under a shirt and suit at work? I love the look of them but worry that they won't be structured enough for work. I'm (only!) a 32DD. Thanks

QuestionableMouse · 12/11/2019 19:13

Molke's cut didn't suit me at all. Came right up into my armpits and rubbed me raw.

There's a selling group on Facebook where you can get them second hand if you want to try them but save some money.

Slappadabass · 12/11/2019 19:16

Thank you for this thread. I've just ditched my comfy nursing bras and my old underwired ones are awful. Got a couple of stretchy sports bra type ones but they are so unsupportive that my nips are near my belly button Grin

The Molke ones look great. For those who have them? Are they supportive for large heavy breasts, I'm atleast a GG but probably a couple of sizes bigger now after baby, breastfeeding (eating everything in sight) weight!

BeanBag7 · 12/11/2019 19:18

I'm waiting for my first Molke delivery after being recommended by a friend. I'm 22 weeks pregnant and my 3 underwire M&S bras have all given up the ghost in the last fortnight, even though I havent changed size much at all. Fingers crossed the Molke ones will be comfy and also suitable for breastfeeding.

The80sweregreat · 12/11/2019 19:21

Downer, my Sainsbury’s £8 bra is great! I've tried most shops / sizes / prices and been let down ,but this little gem is fab and comfy too. Not sure why it's so much better than the other ones that I own.

Campervan69 · 12/11/2019 19:22

I live in these. So incredibly comfortable

TowerRavenSeven · 12/11/2019 19:26

I hear you. I’m a 38 B! Small boobs broad back. I’m doing sports bras but I still can’t breathe in them, like a girdle for my chest. I hate bras!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/11/2019 19:29

Have you tried bravissimo OP? It was a game changer for me when I discovered them many years ago. I'd been wearing the wrong size for years thanks to M&S and the such like.

Blueuggboots · 12/11/2019 19:32

Please please please get your boobs measured properly before you give up!!

thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.com/p/fitting-advice.html?m=1

So many people have massive back measurements which give no support at all.

M&S are dreadful for this!

I've got reasonably "small" boobs but I'm a 34E.

Those of you saying you're a 40DD, I'll bet you aren't!!!

LikeARedBalloon · 12/11/2019 19:53

Molke bras are excellent. I'm a 34G and they are so supportive and comfortable. Only problem is that you'll end up with loads....I have 6 now 😁

jgjgjgjgjg · 12/11/2019 20:12

I also gave up underwired bras recently in favour of slightly padded sleep bras from Bravissimo.

On days where I wear a lower cut or more flimsy top so that the sleep bra would show I wear this one - non underwired but still very supportive

ContinuityError · 12/11/2019 20:24

These Royce non-wired bras are the best ones I’ve ever found:

1Morewineplease · 12/11/2019 20:24

Ditched bras years ago. I wear those Lycra cropped top type. They were recommended to me by a nurse when I was being examined.
Not long after a dear friend of mine had breast cancer and she was told by a nurse at hospital that women shouldn’t wear underwired bras. Reason being that if the bra isn’t fitting exactly then the wires can dig in and interrupt the flow of fluids in the breast and harm breast tissue. This was also the reason that a bra fitter told my, then, 17 year old daughter that they could not recommend an underwired bra for her as she was under 18.

possumgoddess · 12/11/2019 21:27

I am a 'larger lady' without the correspondingly generous boobs. So I need a very big back size but only a B or C cup. I find underwired bras horrendously uncomfortable and I really need padded bras to give me a bit of shape, plus I need something supportive to stop my boobs ending up round waist level (bit of an exaggeration but not much!) I have at last found some comfortable bras! I buy M&S post surgery bras, despite not having had surgery. And by mistake I ended up buying a nursing bra in the same style. So comfortable! I don't buy anything else now.
