Do people tell you that you're pretty when you're 49?

Just that really.

Tess Daly is still pretty at 50. I bet the Duchess of Sussex will still be pretty at 49. My colleague is very pretty at 55. Everyone else I can think of has graduated to attractive or even very attractive with a couple of real beauties thrown in.

I'm older than that and I still get complements, in fact only last week my brother put a pic on Facebook and a lady commented how pretty his sister was. (good lighting obviously!)

SisterhoodOfKahn · 11/11/2019 00:06

I've never ever been pretty but I think I'm one of those people who is ageing well.

I get told I'm stunning, gorgeous and attractive but yeah never pretty.

By the way, I really don't think I'm any of those things. But hey I lap up those comments!

FenellaVelour · 11/11/2019 00:22

I’ve never been called pretty, or anything remotely like it 🤷‍♀️
I’m clearly an absolute beast though, so probably not who you were asking.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 11/11/2019 01:47

I'm early 40s and I said to myself on looking in the mirror that I was looking pretty this morning, does that count?
Seeing as it's nearly 2am now on mirror seeing in morning I'll be probably be saying FFS at my reflection and it being a different story lol ah well

What I always think is when I'm talking to someone and the persons age come up. I always say God you look young I never mean it I say it to be polite and because it's obviously what they want to hear. And I remember when I was quite young realising that there are women that store up complements to tell others presumably to make themselves feel better. And some people take complements way too seriously, they are a way to oil social interaction of course people say nice things. I do I don't mean most of them I'm just being nice. And I get told all the time I look young for my age (I don't) and that I'm attractive, pretty, etc. (I'm average at best). Obviously some of the people being told this are pretty, stunning, beautiful but really I suspect most are like me average and people are just being polite.

I'm 41 and still get told I'm pretty quite a lot

Wingedharpy · 11/11/2019 02:20

I've never been told I'm pretty, I don't think, in my life.
Several weeks ago my plumber told me I had the cleanest kitchen sink trap he had ever seen in all his years of plumbing.
I was, strangely, flattered🤔😁!

Polite bananashake or trying to get in yer knickers. ;)

stopgap · 11/11/2019 02:40

I could only say this on an anonymous forum, but I’m 43 and routinely told I’m beautiful. Which I didn’t expect at this age.

My mum is 68 and to me very beautiful—great haircut, pale blue eyes, great legs, and most of all comfortable in her own skin.
