To be in love with Pink Floyd (music) in 2019

I am going through a lot of problems but listening to Pink Floyd is like putting balm on soul.

Tell me I am not AIBU or maybe I am? Also, which singer/band helps you when you feel low.

I hate them but each to their own.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 09/11/2019 21:58

DD used to go to sleep listening to them when she was a baby. My dad fell asleep at one of their concerts 😂

afternoonspray · 09/11/2019 22:01

@lovemathsandarts - my teen DC 'discovered' Pink Ffloys and play it all the time. I find it incredibly moving listening to them blasting out Wish You Were Here and Dark Side of the Moon when I used to do exactly the same at their age. Brilliant music.

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 09/11/2019 22:02

Learning to Fly Pink Floyd one of my favorite songs!

U2HasTheEdge · 09/11/2019 22:05

YASNBU

My 20 year old son has started to listen to them. So much better than his usual crap. Pink Floyd are simply amazing.

afternoonspray · 09/11/2019 22:05

Shine On You Crazy Diamond is my favourite.

ViciousJackdaw · 09/11/2019 22:07

YANBU, they're one of my favourite bands with all their albums passed down to me from my late Dad. I'm also a big fan of Rush and Led Zep.

Thefemalekeithrichards · 09/11/2019 22:08

YANBU
Shine on you crazy diamond is a masterpiece

You have great taste

AngusThermopyle · 09/11/2019 22:19

Ahh one of my favourites, love listening to them on long drives. First time I saw them was in my 20's in the 80's, (I was a bit high, it was amazing) 😬Grin

GoKartMozart · 09/11/2019 22:42

YANBU. Timeless stuff, as is a lot of that era.

But then most modern music makes me wince.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 09/11/2019 22:47

GoKartMozart

From ‘blinded by the light’?

GoKartMozart · 09/11/2019 22:51

@dirtyrottenscoundrel
That be the one Grin

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 09/11/2019 22:52

Great song! 👍😀

cortex10 · 09/11/2019 22:55

Wish You Were Here was one of my first albums - the thrill of opening the black shrink wrap. And I saw The Wall at Earls Court. Happy Days🙂

thenightsky · 09/11/2019 23:03

I've now got Great Gig in the Sky in my head. Smile

Iflyaway · 09/11/2019 23:14

Love their old stuff like Ummagumma. That was in my teen days Smile

Saw them live in London early 70's. Amazing!!

alltoomuchrightnow · 09/11/2019 23:17

???! Why are you even ASKING this??!
OF COURSE YOU ARE NOT UNREASONABLE TO LOVE PINK FLOYD IN 2019!!
You would however be very unreasonable if you weren't loving them. ;)

GoKartMozart · 09/11/2019 23:19

My physics teacher gave me my copy of dark side in about 83. He said I'd appreciate it as he knew I was into motor head and deep purple. He was right.
I failed physics miserably but my music knowledge vastly improved.

DingDongDenny · 10/11/2019 00:10

Have you watched the concert in Pompei - it's on You Tube, it's amazing!

NomDeQwerty · 10/11/2019 00:23

Soundtrack to my teens but I've avoided them since. Too painful. Though those 2 albums are still word for word decades later.

SucculentCandle · 10/11/2019 00:46

Sitting here in my David Gilmour t-shirt......YANBU

As a kid in the 70s my parents played a lot of PF so I also grew up listening to it.

I listened to PF for 11.5 hours of a 14 hour flight once Grin

TurquoiseDress · 10/11/2019 00:52

YANBU!

user764329056 · 10/11/2019 00:55

YADNBU, Supertramp and early Genesis are also in my favourites list

OytheBumbler · 10/11/2019 01:04

Definitely my desert island disc band.
I can't believe they were so young when they wrote most of their songs.

35 years on I still get chills listening to Pink Floyd. Smile

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 10/11/2019 01:09

DNBU I saw them in 81 too, and also went to the V&A exhibition a few years back - wow!
