Labour voters, what do you think of this?? Shock

"We should all get behind the Tories to save this country

I am worried that if Boris Johnson does not get a majority, Corbyn will get into No 10

Being a Member of Parliament is a huge privilege, but representing the place you are from and the people that you grew up with is the greatest honour of all. I love Dudley, and will never be able to thank local people enough for giving me what I think has been the best job in the world.

Leaving the Labour Party in February was a huge wrench, and I could never have dreamt I’d be telling people to vote Conservative – but I always tell local people the truth, and could never ask them to make Jeremy Corbyn prime minister.

I was taught important values growing up in Dudley. Fairness and playing by the rules. What’s right and what’s wrong. Basic decent British values.

My dad was a Jewish refugee from the Holocaust. His mum and sisters were murdered by the Nazis. He taught me always to stand up to racism and prejudice. I have done that all my life, and I could not stand by as the Labour Party has been poisoned by racism, extremism and intolerance under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.

I am appalled and ashamed that a party that has had such a proud tradition of fighting racism has caused huge offence and distress to the Jewish community. I regard myself as proper, decent, traditional Labour – but I think he is completely unfit to lead our country.

He and people like John McDonnell have spent decades working with and supporting all sorts of extremists, and in some cases terrorists. They can’t be trusted with our defence or security and would undermine our democratic institutions. I do not believe Jeremy Corbyn loves this country.

He and the people around him always seem to back our country’s enemies – whether that’s the IRA when they were murdering people in shopping centres, hotels and pubs, terrorist groups like Hamas and Hizbollah, or even parroting Putin’s propaganda when he tried to murder people here in Britain.

Finally, I think their economic plans would put businesses, investment and jobs at risk and it is impossible to take their Brexit policy seriously. It is a fantasy to think Jeremy Corbyn could negotiate a good deal.

Until this year, I have only ever voted Labour, so it has really come to something when someone like me says traditional decent patriotic Labour voters should vote for Boris Johnson and the Conservative Party this time. This has been a very difficult decision to take. There are good people and lifelong friends of mine in the Labour Party, but the truth is that only one of two people can be prime minister on December 13.

In the end, either Jeremy Corbyn or Boris Johnson will walk into Downing Street. That is the choice we have to face up to and I am worried that if Boris Johnson does not get a majority, Corbyn will get into No 10.

And if I can face up to this question, then surely Nigel Farage should swallow his pride and get behind the Prime Minister, too?

Voting for anyone else is just too big a risk. That is why I think traditional Labour voters like me must lend the Tories our votes at this election and stop Jeremy Corbyn getting anywhere near Downing Street."

the sneering and condescension was not started by me, it was aimed at me #BigMistake. If people had stayed respectful and engaged, instead of descending into lefty sneering #BadTactic, I would stay respectful and engaged. Now I am punching the bruise (Peter Mandelson) [Smile]

Well that seems an entirely sensible and persuasive tactic. Much better than my suggestion of an actual argument. Carry on.

oh my lord theres some sort of split between blairites and Corbynites? this is cutting edge news, OP

longwayoff · 08/11/2019 17:46

Multi millionaire Corbyn? GrinGrinGrin. Some people will believe anything.

GCAcademic · 08/11/2019 17:50

What about the Tory MPs who won’t be voting Tory? Ken Clarke, for example?

Hefzi · 08/11/2019 17:53

Some nice casual antisemitism on this thread - I'd like to believe it's been done in an ironic way by the posters concerned, but unfortunately, I think it's the usual, boring, ignorant reasons. Way to go Confused

CendrillonSings · 08/11/2019 17:53

What about the Tory MPs who won’t be voting Tory? Ken Clarke, for example?

Is he openly campaigning for Corbyn? No? Then it’s not a particularly relevant parallel, is it?

ScreamingLadySutch · 09/11/2019 06:03

@Patroclus seeing as you are concerned about other people's naivity, let me help you out .... a split is another word for division. Or civil war. Shem.

Oh dear, now Blunkett is concerned

I despair at the behaviour of Labour's hard Left

"Well, what a crazy start to this general election campaign, marked so far by ineptitude and a display of top-down, old-style command and control politics that seems designed to put people off voting altogether."

OP you’re coming across as quite aggressive. If I were Tory HQ I’d prefer it if you weren’t on my side as you’re not helping.

I think people are starting to be turned off American style negative and aggressive campaigning where it’s all about mudslinging and shouting e.g.’lock her up!’ etc.

There was a letter recently from leading rabbis condemning the baseless attacks in Jeremy Corbyn. Please enlighten me who in the Jewish community shall we believe on this issue. These respected Rabbis or the ones killing children in Palestine?
