Well not unreasonable as such more frivolous.
They cost £148 for 3 people with Tui.Ive also been able to book my chosen seats which I'm pleased about. Are they worth the money? It's a big holiday for dh and mine 40ths next year.

If it’s a long flight then I definitely would.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 07/11/2019 20:34

Its 4 hours.

What would be unreasonable about booking a seat? My dh and I are both 6ft (more in his case) and with stupid long legs, I'd do it in a shot if I had the cash

onthecoins · 07/11/2019 20:34

I personally wouldn't bother for 4 hours. Anything over 6 I definitely would.

Lockheart · 07/11/2019 20:36

Why on earth do you think you're unreasonable for booking a seat? Confused

If you want it buy it, unreasonable doesn't come into it.

RuskBaby · 07/11/2019 20:36

Book them! The extra legroom are better then extra space. We couldn’t have them this year because of an aircraft change with the 737 max issue and it made such a difference! Have them for next year hopefully we don’t get swapped out again. It’s a small price to pay for comfort.

Rezie · 07/11/2019 20:38

I personally wouldn't but then again im cheap. So go for it if you have the money.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 07/11/2019 20:38

Sorry I know I'm not being unreasonable I suppose I want to feel like I'm not throwing money away

OP posts:
PrincessHoneysuckle · 07/11/2019 20:39

Be reassured I'm not throwing it away and they're worth it I mean

You'll be in an exit row (most likely) so have to be physically able to open the door - just something to bear in mind

We always book them as DH is 6'4" and flying 'home' is 9 hrs from where we live.

mindutopia · 07/11/2019 20:42

I think it depends on the plane. I flew EasyJet recently (apparently on one of their ‘new’ planes). I’m 5’9 so I’m not short but I’m not above average height for a human either. My legs literally didn’t fit in the space provided for legs to go. I had to prop myself up off the seat slightly for 2 hours so I could actually get my knees to fit pushed right up against the seat back in front. If I had to fly on another of those, I’d pay for extra legroom.

FizzyPink · 07/11/2019 20:44

I probably wouldn’t for only a 4 hour flight and have a nice dinner with that money instead.
Saying that I just flew to Australia and back and had 14 hours on the way out in a standard seat and then 7 hours, 14 hours and 8 hours in extra legroom and it was the best money I’ve ever spent.

MazDazzle · 07/11/2019 20:46

We were on a four our flight and it was grim. Could not believe how cramped we were. I was beefing on feeling claustrophobic.

I’ve booked extra leg room flights for long haul before. Definitely worth it, even for a short flight.

If you can afford it, go for it.

MazDazzle · 07/11/2019 20:46

verging Grin

Redland12 · 07/11/2019 20:47

Definitely worth the money. I pay for it on every flight. It’s so much better to stretch out your legs in front of you. It’s so cramped otherwise.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 07/11/2019 20:48

I'm 5 ft 9 and I hate feeling cramped or claustrophobic,I also want to book the front or back of the plane because when you sit in the middle you get your drinks last because they work their way in with the trolleys Grin

I will ALWAYS pay more for comfort (within reason). Defo do it.

TheFairyCaravan · 07/11/2019 20:49

Tui extra legroom seats aren't in exit rows, they call those extra space seats. The extra legroom seats on short haul flights are in rows 3, 4 and 5 iirc. We always pay for them if they're available because I've got mobility problems and DH is 6'4. They really are worth it, imo. The extra room makes it that little bit more tolerable.

Iwantacookie · 07/11/2019 20:51

I'm short and I always get extra leg room. I'm in holiday mode from the moment I've dropped my bags off though which means I dont mind paying for extras.

mysteryfairy · 07/11/2019 20:52

When I travel short haul on low cost airlines for work I upgrade my seat paying myself because it’s so miserable for me at 5ft 10 in a normal seat I’d rather spend my own money for the privilege of working than endure it! So totally not unreasonable!

busface999 · 07/11/2019 20:53

I did this last month! Also Tui. Found it hugely worth it. Read something about 'three inches' after I booked them and doubted my decision. But once we were in them I was so relieved! Felt like so much more room. As above, extra legroom seats are at the front of the plane, they're not the same as exit seats which come with restrictions e.g. you'd have to be fit enough to help in an emergency etc

Branster · 07/11/2019 20:53

If you have long legs and can afford it, you should. The risk of DVT as the primary concern, plus discomfort.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 07/11/2019 20:55

I've booked aisle 3 😊😊

OP posts:
ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 07/11/2019 20:59

Ah ok i stand corrected re exit row. (We never fly within Europe these days).

Downside of exit rows too is they are by the loo so everyone does their 'stretches' in your lap Grin

I do recall a horrific cheapo holiday Monarch flight years ago where DH physically couldn't get his knees in behind the seat in front ...
that was fun Hmm

PrincessHoneysuckle · 07/11/2019 21:01

I'm booking the v.i p lounge next,I'm on a roll! We always book these though they are so worth it
