I actually thought it was her from the picture. I’ve always liked Keanu Reeves.

People are prejudiced about grey, not biologically hard wired!

It's a natural ageing process. There is no prejudice here. I'm younger and naturally grey because I cba to dye it and refuse to pay ridiculous money to a hairdresser.

so many people in their 40's dye their hair. We are no longer used to seeing grey at this age, simply because people hide it.

It's disingenuous to say that the excitement around this is to do with her resemblance to Helen Mirren. The media attention is clearly all about a Hollywood man dating someone with grey hair also in his age bracket.

We may jump to the conclusion that it's HM in the picture because she's one of the very few grey haired older women (I can't think of anyone else but hopefully there are more) who ever appear on the red carpet.

Some people express surprise at his choice, many on MN will express delight and relief.

But we're a long way from changing the way society treats older women and this story demonstrates that.

I love Keanu in a bizarrely passionless, non-sexual way. I'm really happy he's found somebody to love! She looks like a really nice person.

They look very happy, that’s nice. But I do find it a bit weird that there is so much shock that an interesting man of substance is dating and interesting woman of substance. I mean, I know that a lot of 50+ men date much younger women but surely that’s the weird thing? Similar age/interests would seem to be a more normal and stable basis for a relationship, no?

Tbh I think it's more that people are pleasantly surprised he is seeing anyone at all, and pleased she seems nice.

She does look a lot older in the red carpet picture, and I definitely thought she was older than 46. But in the more casual photos posted by @SleepwalkingThroughLife she looks very youthful and beautiful.

totally agree with DarrellMakepeace, it really isn't because she looks like HM.

He's 55 and she's 46, I think they have worked together for a while before they started dating. It is weird that it's been a news story at the moment.

I think she looks younger in the other pics than the red carpet ones. To me, she looks more like Maggie Gyllenhal than HM.

I meant to say considerably younger than him. Much more than 11 years. And let's face it, 11 years in your 50s and 40s isn't like 30s and 20s or late teens.
She looks great, grey might be natural, Steve Martin was grey in his early thirties, dd has a mate who is grey at 21. But does it matter? She looks fab.

I had the exact same thought first time I glanced at the pic.. eh?? Helen Mirren? then once i looked at it properly its clear its not but there is a resemblance for sure.

People commenting that the lady looked a lot older than her age, not “pretty” etc. I think she looks bloody fantastic.
