to wonder why chocolate bars aren't packed with

the printed design or breakage pattern facing the opening?

Most chocolate bars have some kind of design, pattern or divisions where it will break embedded into the chocolate.

Most chocolate bars are packaged so the opening is at the back and the front is covered by full 'sheet' of packaging.

I normally open it at the back and break it from behind so never see the pattern or design.

To see that you either have to open the whole thing or pull it out and turn it over.

It makes no sense.

Why not package it with the design towards the back where the split in the packaging is?

@joyfullittlehippo

A Branche / Brancheli. They're super common and found all over Switzerland, they're made by various brands.
It's my favourite chocolate bar tbh.

ChileConCarne · 06/11/2019 08:24

YES! And when you snap it from the back, you don’t know where to apply pressure because you don’t know where the divisions between squares are.

@DontCallMeShitley

Where does Tony offer his wares for sale? Is he a regional failure to divided his chocolate bar in an orderly way?

What do you mean front ane back?
Surely it's up and down.

@GuyForks Tony is becoming easier to find, he is now available in some supermarkets and some of those fake Farm Shops that sell stuff purchased at the same place as the shops.

I find him in Sainsburys. He is promoting slave free chocolate, and it is the only one I have found that resembles the good stuff from the olden days.

If any of you buy Tonys Chocolonely you will be driven demented by the stupid design that makes it impossible to break unless you unwrap it.

Shock there's just no need for that horror in that photo!

You people must develop your sense of touch.

Figmentofmyimagination · 06/11/2019 17:59

Today someone gave me a box of Thornton’s continentals at work to say thank you for a kind deed and rather than sharing them, I ate 13 instead of my lunch. I didn’t really notice the packaging as I was trying to be clandestine.

LaurieMarlow · 06/11/2019 18:05

Of all the things I never thought to worry about in this world Grin

The tony thing is annoying admittedly. Great chocolate tho.

Figmentofmyimagination · 06/11/2019 18:05

I used my highly developed sense of touch to prioritise extracting my favourites in order of preference from a bag next to my desk without drawing attention to myself.

LaurieMarlow · 06/11/2019 18:06

Tony is in Sainsbury’s. Hard to find though, right at the bottom of the display.

Tidypidy · 06/11/2019 18:21

I really miss sliding a nail along the foil of a kit kat to separate the fingers. Happy days :)

Newbie1999 · 06/11/2019 18:27

Anyone tried Tony’s Chocolonely? Only seen it in Sainsbury’s - it is AMAZING!

Newbie1999 · 06/11/2019 18:29

Sorry, I obvs didn’t RTFT!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/11/2019 18:31

I found Tony in Sainsburys. Wasn’t til I’d nearly finished (sharing with a faster eater DH) that I found the little circle bit and wondered what the pattern was,

Was nice chocolate, but will need a second bar to make sure...

Newbie1999 · 06/11/2019 19:19

Go for the salted caramel one!

LaurieMarlow · 06/11/2019 19:34

I haven’t seen the honey nougat one anywhere. Dying to try that.

GuyForks · 06/11/2019 21:09

Now I think of it the large bar of the Cadbury Marvellous creations with the popping candy in it also suffers from Tony's Failure (to divide his chocolate bar in an acceptable and appropriate orderly manner).

I must look out for Tony's after the recommendation.

I think Donquixote's explanation is also right!
