I feel an idiot as a colleague has just gone off to microwave lunch IN THE FOIL CONTAINER IT CAME IN - apparently this is now ok. I feel old and stupid.
Anyone care to share anything else with me to stop me feeling stupid in future situations?

I refuse to believe you can microwave foil. No no no, you can't go changing things like that, I can't handle it.

QueenOfOversharing · 04/11/2019 15:48

@RedElephants how weird - I was thinking about them yesterday. Let me know when you find out as my son cried when I told him. I think he still hates Jamie Oliver (his school had loads in the freezers apparently).

milliefiori · 04/11/2019 15:51

@Mileymileymoomoo - I just don't get that 'lodge a cheque' thing. How would they know I hadn't lodged it with lots of other accounts too?

Today I learned how to scan a paper document onto my laptop. That's probably very old news to most people but I had to download an app to do it and was amazed it actually worked. Especially as I then had to edit the scanned PDF and I remember the days when that just couldn't be done.

dragongirlx · 04/11/2019 15:52

that trying to put up a large umbrella whilst holding onto a latte is a recipe for disaster

macpumpkin1 · 04/11/2019 15:52

If you forget to add the eggs when you are making pumpkin pie then don't worry as it will still set. In fact my kids said they preferred it without the eggs!

Bobbybobbins · 04/11/2019 15:55

That both my children can probably run faster than me now and it hurts when I fall over on my arse chasing them!!

basicbitch16 · 04/11/2019 15:55

@milliefiori I guess the first account to cash the cheque would get the funds, and then the cheque would be refused if it were presented again?

Apparently the foil thing is an actual thing, but it didn't work the one time I tried it & I'm too scared to try again!!

Graphista · 04/11/2019 18:12

Sympathy to those with the tickle throat/Black Death bug, I got it about 4 weeks ago and I’m STILL not completely over it.

You can microwave metal now? If so THAT is my thing I learnt today, I’ve not got a micro at the moment I manage fine without but have had them in the past. Having witnessed micros blowing up in the past thanks to people trying this or things like not realising there was metal in a plates decoration I’m not risking it.

Mrsjayy · 04/11/2019 18:20

Thank you ive been asleep this afternoon woke up horrible and clammy and your face will stick to a leather chair so I learnedthat today!

I would be too scared to put foil in the microwave

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 04/11/2019 19:57

I think it must be special foil. My microwave didn’t like the metal cup I tried. Please do not start microwaving foil! I think it must indeed be special ready meal NASA foil
I also learned that peri menopause is making me exhausted- like pregnant exhausted 💤

HRT was a god send I'm no longer bone crushingly tired!

MrsToothyBitch · 04/11/2019 21:27

I learnt that there is a world championship for pace sticking. It's a military thing, it's deadly serious & my colleague is a former runner up!

EmmiJay · 04/11/2019 21:35

I learnt that 11 month olds are the most fearless creatures ever.

Thefemalekeithrichards · 04/11/2019 21:42

That a pair of wellies is essential....I have never owned a pair, ever - my garden is currently ankle deep in water was unable to fill bird feeders, squirrel feeder and hedgehog feeding area - I felt so guilty-bought some wellies tonight and have been happily splashing about in garden like a toddler

LizzieVereker · 04/11/2019 21:48

I learned what it means to “grey rock” someone. I’d never heard the term before today, and I noticed it in three different threads, so I googled. I think I’ve been doing it to my Mum and various colleagues for years.

Pulipatchouli · 04/11/2019 21:56

I learned that when a wet vac doesn't fix an air lock on your hot taps, it could be a blockage in the pipe to your hot water tank.
And wet vaccing the pipe that feeds the hit water tank can produce instant and joyous results.

cwg1 · 04/11/2019 22:09

That flying duck wall plaques were created by Beswick in 1938.

Lifeisabeach09 · 04/11/2019 22:28

I discovered that Jamie Dornan (of Fifty Shades) really is, incredibly, hot! I have a new crush!!

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 04/11/2019 22:46

I must google grey rock
And also realised that I may need my HRT more than I realise. Shame I can’t bloody get my prescription anywhere...4 weeks since I got it!

OP posts:
Milanimilani · 04/11/2019 22:53

Foil-I wouldn’t try it just in case of an explosion.
Foam in tyres- yes but it doesn’t last for long and you’ll need a new tyre anyway.

I learned that the term hysterical comes from hysterectomy. Which is why men are never hysterical.

teenagetantrums · 04/11/2019 22:54

I learnt that clothes have the lable on' the left side as worn.' All those minutes trying to figure out which way to put on my pants such a waste of time

Jubilation · 04/11/2019 22:55

I learnt that it's better you don't take the risk of asking a young man in a showroom whether he's a stand up comedian in his spare time, as you recognise him from somewhere and can't think where. Do NOT ask this question!

teenagetantrums · 04/11/2019 22:57

Oh. And we put metal serving dishes in my microwave at work . I thought as l worked in a kitchen we had a special microwave never thought to try it at home l might now though

funnyfeeling · 04/11/2019 23:02

That typhoons, hurricanes and cyclones are all the same thing.

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 04/11/2019 23:03

I’ve learned that if you leave the pack of jumbo sized snack a jacks beside you while watching tv, you can end up accidentally eating six of them, then feel sick. Blush
