To put a photo of DS in Christmas cards?

Last year I combined Christmas and 'thanks for the babygift' cards as DS was born in late November. I included a photo of DS since I don't use social media and older relatives won't have WhatsApp photos. Also I like printed out photos. I thought it would be nice this year to do the same & include a photo. Cards just go to very close friends and family. DH doesn't want to though and doesn't think anyone would want a photo. Would you think it was strange to receive one? Not like a professional pic, just a nice photo normal sized.

No, don’t.

Scarydinosaurs · 03/11/2019 15:36

I’d love it!

Croquembou · 03/11/2019 15:37

This is quite normal within families, isn't it? Especially for older relatives. They bloody love a picture.

FuzzyPuffling · 03/11/2019 15:37

Close family (parents, grandparents, Godparents) might well welcome a picture, but I'd say no to sending one to friends generally.

Starlight456 · 03/11/2019 15:38

I do for elderly relatives but friends no .

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 03/11/2019 15:39

Yeah we always laugh when these turn up. Sorry.

For elderly relatives maybe? Might be a bit trickier for them to share photos and get them printed?

flowerpowerr · 03/11/2019 15:39

I'm with Fuzzy - close family yes, friends too much!

spongedog · 03/11/2019 15:39

I would for family that perhaps dont see DS very often.

I used to receive pictures of friends children when they were small. I quite liked receiving them (one per child!) - I still have them somewhere.

Crayfishandsausages · 03/11/2019 15:39

Personally I wouldn’t but each to their own!

moobar · 03/11/2019 15:39

Yes I would. I don't do Christmas cards but did a photo birthday thank you for DD and have sent one to older relatives just as a hello.

flowerpowerr · 03/11/2019 15:40

Though surely your close family see regular pics of your child anyway?

Bumfuzzled · 03/11/2019 15:41

If it’s a close friend or family I’d like it.

Orchidflower1 · 03/11/2019 15:42

Elderly family : yep- great Aunty Martha is sure to love a snap.
Close family/ younger relatives: no they will see you anyway or just not that fussed ( cousins etc)
Friends: no, it’s a bit cheesy and a waste.

Bodear · 03/11/2019 15:43

I would really dislike it, would roll my eyes and would judge.
Sorry, you did ask.

EleanorShellstrop100 · 03/11/2019 15:44

I wouldn’t. Except maybe to grandparents. I honestly don’t think anyone else would want a photo of my DC or even know what to do with it? I think I’d even be baffled if my brother sent me a pic of his DS at Christmas and I’d not be sure what I was meant to do with it. Definitely don’t send to friends or young relatives! People would probably be a bit Hmm

NoHummus · 03/11/2019 15:45

I love getting pictures of close friends' kids! I am sure they will appreciate it.

MaryShelley1818 · 03/11/2019 15:45

Elderly relatives - yes!
Anyone else definitely not.

Jeschara · 03/11/2019 15:47

No don't do it. I agree with your husband.

rainingcats · 03/11/2019 15:48

I personally love a photo - I keep all the ones I receive from family and friends. For the past three years I have taken a festive photo of ds and made into cards - works out cheeper then buying separate nana, grandad, aunty, uncle cards etc

rainingcats · 03/11/2019 15:49

I live quite far away from family / close friends so not sure if that makes a difference!

marsbar27 · 03/11/2019 15:50

For close family definitely a lovely thought but I received one from my friend last year and I was a bit Hmm
My judgement is probably clouded though as we both have kids but she bombards me with pictures of hers all the time so to the receive a family pic of them all in Christmas jumpers just took it a little too far.
Your first year was a thank you/happy Christmas which is lovely but I'd maybe print off a handful for immediate family and send regular cards to everyone else.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/11/2019 15:50

I did with DS when he was little. Of course he was the most gorgeous child in the history of the universe...

Have fun!

greenlavender · 03/11/2019 15:51

I love getting prints of friends children.

MeTheCoolOne · 03/11/2019 15:53

Yes for family but no for friends. (Roughly speaking)

Wheat2Harvest · 03/11/2019 15:53

My family always did this, and I so much looked forward to receiving them. I guess it's not done so often now that people are on Facebook, though.
