To put a photo of DS in Christmas cards?

Last year I combined Christmas and 'thanks for the babygift' cards as DS was born in late November. I included a photo of DS since I don't use social media and older relatives won't have WhatsApp photos. Also I like printed out photos. I thought it would be nice this year to do the same & include a photo. Cards just go to very close friends and family. DH doesn't want to though and doesn't think anyone would want a photo. Would you think it was strange to receive one? Not like a professional pic, just a nice photo normal sized.

This is quite normal within families, isn't it? Especially for older relatives. They bloody love a picture.

Close family (parents, grandparents, Godparents) might well welcome a picture, but I'd say no to sending one to friends generally.

For elderly relatives maybe? Might be a bit trickier for them to share photos and get them printed?

I would for family that perhaps dont see DS very often.

I used to receive pictures of friends children when they were small. I quite liked receiving them (one per child!) - I still have them somewhere.

Yes I would. I don't do Christmas cards but did a photo birthday thank you for DD and have sent one to older relatives just as a hello.

Elderly family : yep- great Aunty Martha is sure to love a snap.
Close family/ younger relatives: no they will see you anyway or just not that fussed ( cousins etc)
Friends: no, it’s a bit cheesy and a waste.

I wouldn’t. Except maybe to grandparents. I honestly don’t think anyone else would want a photo of my DC or even know what to do with it? I think I’d even be baffled if my brother sent me a pic of his DS at Christmas and I’d not be sure what I was meant to do with it. Definitely don’t send to friends or young relatives! People would probably be a bit Hmm

I personally love a photo - I keep all the ones I receive from family and friends. For the past three years I have taken a festive photo of ds and made into cards - works out cheeper then buying separate nana, grandad, aunty, uncle cards etc

For close family definitely a lovely thought but I received one from my friend last year and I was a bit Hmm
My judgement is probably clouded though as we both have kids but she bombards me with pictures of hers all the time so to the receive a family pic of them all in Christmas jumpers just took it a little too far.
Your first year was a thank you/happy Christmas which is lovely but I'd maybe print off a handful for immediate family and send regular cards to everyone else.

My family always did this, and I so much looked forward to receiving them. I guess it's not done so often now that people are on Facebook, though.
