Adele's Weight loss

I already know I am being unreasonable, but wonder if any else feels the same or understands my point!

I'm a massive Adele fan, have loved her and her work forever, she's all over the news and social media because of her (apparently 3 stone loss) and I agree she looks fab and happy and I know that's what's important, but part of me feels like she's sort of lost the 'edge' she had. She never seemed to want to conform to society's/music industries need for women to be slim, or lose weight and I thought she kind of had a middle finger up to all that...

Silly really, but just wondered if anyone else knows what I mean..?!?

OP posts:

Ah, stop Biscuit

7salmonswimming · 01/11/2019 21:11

Your OP is so many shades of messed up I don’t even know where to begin Confused

BloggersBlog · 01/11/2019 21:13

It's always "three stone" isnt it. Adele's three stone, Gemma Collins' three stone, read today John Torrode's 3 stone.

Just wish it was my three flipping stone

bookishtartlet · 01/11/2019 21:16

She's fabulous and I couldn't give a fuck what she weighs. My weight fluctuates so much, depending on mental health, hormones, life style, relationship and I honestly hate comments telling me I look great when I've lost weight. People think it's a compliment, like I'm now somehow a better person.

Her edge is her personality, talent and voice.

MrsEricBana · 01/11/2019 21:23

Bloody hell! Get a grip of yourself. She's done so well, must be healthier, looks amazing. This surely makes her an even better role model.

Ponoka7 · 01/11/2019 21:23

She originally said she was doing it to set a good example to her son and the weight loss was a bonus.

It could be for the MH benefits.

It's nice to get to an age were you don't have to stick the middle finger up to anyone and just live your life.

She was entering her thirties as her marriage was breaking down. That brings big changes and hers are positive ones.

LetMeLayAmongTheStars · 01/11/2019 21:25

Her weight loss isn’t sudden though, I mean she looks to have lost a fair amount in the past few months but actually even last year she looked a lot slimmer than in previous years but YAB totally U to think that has anything to do with her as an artist or her abilities.
I’ve put on 3 stone over the past few years, I definitely do not have edges

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 01/11/2019 21:27

Her edge is her personality, talent and voice.

This.

OP your attitude is sadly no different from the music industry types who put pressure on women to slim down.

You expect her to look a certain way.

BMW6 · 01/11/2019 21:30

Give over OP. Maybe her weight loss and the media coverage of it will inspire and encourage others LIKE ME who are very overweight.

It is not "edgy" to be fat. It is unhealthy and often uncomfortable and / or embarrassing.

BossAssBitch · 01/11/2019 21:32

Adele doesn’t have an ‘edge’. She writes and sings middle of the road, dreary pop music for the masses.

Potnoodledoo · 01/11/2019 21:34

she definitely can do better than her first husband

What was wrong with him.

I think she looks great

Goingbacktokansascity · 01/11/2019 21:35

I think she’s now at a lower risk of heart attacks, strokes, all cancers and diabetes.... can’t really see ANY negatives of her weight loss or the coverage of it.

pollysproggle · 01/11/2019 21:37

Maybe she did it for herself and not just to conform...?

aweedropofsancerre · 01/11/2019 21:38

I love adele, havent seen her since her recent weight loss but she always looks amazing whatever size she is. If she has chosen to get fit and lose more weight then fair enough. I aimed to do the same before a big birthday but other issues got in the way but I will be aiming to get on with it

Ohyesiam · 01/11/2019 21:38

This is the first coverage I’ve seen. Adele’s weight loss.

breakfastpizza · 01/11/2019 21:41

She has lost her husband

I don't think that's how she'd phrase it!

countdowntonap · 01/11/2019 21:42

She’s still not really skin though. Hardly looks like she’s conforming /bring overly restrictive

chippychip1 · 01/11/2019 21:43

She's been losing weight slowly for years & it looks like more than 3 stone, good for her. The thing is she is absolutely loaded so if she adapts a healthier life style with her means eg personal trainer, chefs/prepared meals, home gym etc it's probably hard to not lose any weight.

Venger · 01/11/2019 21:44

Shes been hitting the gym, hasn't she? I've seen her quoted as posting that she used to cry but now she sweats instead. I have a friend like that, she got rid of her useless husband who was always putting her down and once she'd had enough of crying at home she went to the gym to work it out of her system. She lost loads of weight even though her only goal had been to improve her mental health, he wanted her back, and she took great pleasure in telling him to go fuck himself.

ssd · 01/11/2019 21:44

I felt sorry for her when I read how much weight she's list cis IME when a relationship breaks up and I lose weight drastically it's cos I'm utterly broken hearted. I sincerely hope she's lost weight in a positive way but I suspect she's been hurt and that's a shame.
I think she seems a nice girl, fat or thin, who cares what weight she is. I hope she finds happiness.

StrangeLookingParasite · 01/11/2019 21:57

She has lost her husband

Like breakfastpizza, I don't think that's what happened.

lljkk · 01/11/2019 22:06

I listen to a lot of music at work including an hour or 2 of Adele today.
Until this thread I had no idea she had lost weight... or even had a child!
Maybe it's the media you choose to follow OP.

Her body - child - relationship - have nothing to do with how good her music is for me. Was she a role model for edgy fat birds ... maybe is why I can't get it.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 01/11/2019 22:06

Women love to hate on women.

Mrsgogginsthe3rd · 01/11/2019 22:07

It’s not conforming, she’ll still be an amazing performer.

Being fat is shit and really, really uncomfortable. I can’t believe anyone can be properly happy. I put on loads of weight after my DS. Ankles felt like they were crumbling, knees constantly burnt and embarrassingly it was really difficult to wipe my arse and tie my shoelaces. She’s not conforming she probably just got really fed up of feeling like shit. I expect the exercise helped take her mind of coming out of a bad relationship and she sweated out a bit of rage with the workouts.

She looks amazing, I’m more jealous of her amazing eyebrows!

MeClavdivs · 01/11/2019 22:11

Women love to hate on women.

I can assure you that it's not limited to women. Men love it too.
