To be baffled as to why they cant send this

Hi I order my prescriptions through pharmacy 2 u if anybody is aware of them
Basically I order through them online and they request the prescription from my doctors then once recieved they check, pack and deliver to me.
However it hasnt been working out too well with my doctors constantly delaying on sending them my prescriptions leaving me out of tablets. I'm always busy thats why I use pharmacy 2 u
Latest saga is that my doctors is refusing to send the prescription for a antidepressant I take and are not giving a valid reason why they just keep saying it's a paper only prescription despite the pharmacy 2 u have said they recieve these electronically all the time for these particular antidepressants from other doctors all the time. Pharmacy 2 u cant seem to get them.to see sense and neither can I.
Anybody had similar problem or know why.

Clappingforjoy · 01/11/2019 06:39

These pharmacy's cost the nhs a lot of money so they're trying to limit their use. There's various loopholes they can use to charge the nhs over the odds for the medicine. They'd rather you collected the prescription and took it to a pharmacy in person.
Really they should close the loopholes.

HiyaVera · 01/11/2019 06:51

I'm having the same issues with mine at the minute. They really get the arse about having to confirm prescriptions.

Sorry if I'm being a bit dim, but what is it that's costing the NHS so much?

WeeDangerousSpike · 01/11/2019 06:59

How is it any different cost wise to sending them to tesco or boots to be filled? Our Drs surgery only has a tiny pharmacy that is only available to certain patients. Everyone else has to have their prescription sent to a commercial pharmacy to be filled.

Is it the delivery that costs the NHS?

It's shocking that they're effectively denying you your medication OP. My DGM is blind and housebound, she has to have her medication delivered, she has no choice. This is the kind of shit that's going to kill her one day.

Disfordarkchocolate · 01/11/2019 07:05

Are you due a review of some sort?

Loveislandaddict · 01/11/2019 07:10

Its up to the doctors to decide whether to issue a prescription, not P2U. Are you due a review? If so, maybe they want you to have that booked before your next prescription is issued.

Soontobe60 · 01/11/2019 07:11

Here's a suggestion, phone your GP surgery up and ask them what's going on!

Katiet123 · 01/11/2019 07:14

I can only get a few repeat prescriptions as the Dr has to review how the antidepressants are working, to make sure they are still working, and that I'm not having any worsening symptoms. It might be something along those lines?

Nonameslob · 01/11/2019 07:14

I would guess they want you to collect it so they can book you in for your review. When was your last medication review?

slipperywhensparticus · 01/11/2019 07:20

My dr sends me a note for a review they dont Make me go in for it

RuthW · 01/11/2019 07:23

Some prescriptions can not be sent electronically.

Sometimes the electronic system fails so you have to print and once it's done, it's done.

Are you overdue a review?

Some areas have now stopped third parties ordering for patients.

These companies are awful as they order things not needed and waste loads of nhs money.

sueelleker · 01/11/2019 07:24

It's not Pregabalin is it? That's now a Controlled Drug, and they've tightened up on the regulations. My husband gets it, but only a months worth at a time.

cupoftea84 · 01/11/2019 07:49

I can't really explain in detail here but pharmacy2U rip off the NHS by taking advantage of a few loopholes. Some normal pharmacy's do the same thing. My GPs has stopped allowing pharmacy's to order repeat prescriptions to try and stop this too some degree.
Do you have a local pharmacy that you could use?

lyingwanker · 01/11/2019 07:55

Normal, local pharmacies offer the same service so if your GP has a problem with pharmacy 2 U maybe swap to a different one? It doesn't have to be a local independent, I know several branded pharmacies including boots offer the same service in my area.

HerculePoirotsGreyCells · 01/11/2019 07:58

My surgery has done the same @cupoftea84 they have notices explaining why they don't agree with the use of pharmacy2u

Chloe84 · 01/11/2019 08:03

My local pharmacy (family run business 40 years +), did warn me that P2U are not great. (I don't need these services so don't its rivalry).

I would speak to your local pharmacy and aee if they can take over.

TheCatInAHat · 01/11/2019 08:04

cupoftea can you give an example of one of the loopholes? I’m a pharmacist and trying to understand how they are able to take advantage in a way normal community pharmacies don’t.

ToelessPobble · 01/11/2019 08:05

The doctors may also be trying to ensure there is a pharmacy still where you live. They offer medical advice for minor conditions but are under increasing risk from these online pharmacy's. Even though it would be much more convenient for me to have my medication sent to my door I go on a Saturday morning so as to protect the pharmacy for the more vulnerable where I live.

Youngatheart00 · 01/11/2019 08:05

My experience with E-prescriptions is that the repeat often automatically gets ordered, charging the NHS accordingly (and the patient, if the medications are picked up!).

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/11/2019 08:12

There’s a sign up in our pharmacy saying they aren’t connected to pharmacy2u so stop complaining about them to us.

But nicely put.

bruffin · 01/11/2019 08:17

Dh has to have a blood test regularly with sertraline . He has to see the gp before they will renew prescription. Couls it be something like that?
