TOILET BRUSH ALTERNATIVE

ok, I know there has been many discussions on this subject. But just wondered if anyone had come up with an idea to replace the dreaded Toilet Brush. I personally hate them. Think they are creepy and vile. I use bleach at the moment. But wondered whether anyone has come across anything specially made for this purpose.

Kind of like a toilet brush in a bottle. Something you can just spray on and it cleans any left over stuff fairly quickly?

You don’t use a poo knife?

BanKittenHeels · 31/10/2019 14:32

Have you heard about your hands?
Rubber glove on, clean with whichever product you normally use and a cloth that can stand being washed at a high temperature.

sleepyhead · 31/10/2019 14:35

You train yourself and your family to consider any poo skid left above the waterline to be the height of bad manners and should be dealt with at the time using a wad of paper (you know, like you deal with same on your arse).

Bleach or whatever cleaner for under the waterline followed by putting on a rubber glove and a scrub round with a cloth on a regular basis.

This is what I use, as I too have a serious aversion to traditional toilet brushes. It's been brilliant so far.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 31/10/2019 14:35

What's the issue with a toliet brush? I just leave mine in the toliet after cleaning with a squirt of bleach, flush after a few minutes and it goes back in holder.

forgivemeimnew · 31/10/2019 14:53

I use a loogun. It’s ok if you use it straight away, and don’t leave it until the poo has hardened on -15 yo son-

Whoops crossing out failure

Toilet brush here too, not sure of the issue

MN is notoriously fucking weird on this topic.

Just use a loo brush and clean it regularly OP.

I have NO IDEA why anyone thinks this is preferable to using a brush and then cleaning it. No idea.

You can get rubber ones now, so no bristles which are much easier to clean. Less places for the pop to stick. I don’t agree that sticking your hand in the loo is preferable to using a brush Confused

HeronLanyon · 26/08/2021 13:12

Wad of loo roll at the time then good hand wash (which you’re going to be doing anyway). Do not want anything which has been cleaning shit sitting in my bathroom - aware you maybe clean it as much as I do when washing hands, but seems chemicals are then necessary ? They’re god awful ugly also although I don’t think I’ve seen one for a very very long time maybe they have changed.

You could recreate the Lubeka with some kitchen tongues and a plastic vase Grin

Toothmouse · 26/08/2021 17:06

Obviously, when I cook the famous Mumsnet chicken 🐔 that does 5 family meals, after making stock, I use the discarded bones to clean the toilet as a toilet brush just won’t do!

How is that better than using a brush Confused
FussyN6 · 26/08/2021 18:40

A Lubeka type toilet cleaner might be the sort of thing you are looking for - popular in Denmark and Germany. No bristles - so nothing to get dirty or stinky.

I'm so with you on this
Annietheacrobat · 26/08/2021 19:02

And think of your guests. Nothing worse than having a number 2 in someone else's house and then finding there is no brush. What are you meant to do? Leave the skid marks or frantically search the bathroom cupboards for cleaning products..

Bryonyshcmyony · 26/08/2021 19:04

I just use a brush 🤷🏼‍♀️

I use the toilet duck disposable brush things. It's just a handle that you add the disposable wipe things to. Much more hygienic than a brush.
