Rugby World Cup final

More of a WWYD.... DH is trying to convince me to sack of DD's swimming lesson on Saturday morning at 9.30am (we'd have to leave at 9am) and watch the rugby. "Once in a lifetime chance" apparently. DD has already missed quite a few lessons this term due to holiday, pool closure etc. She's only 2 so lessons are more for fun than learning.

WWYD? I already know what I'm going to do tbh Grin

World Cup!!! 🏆

Toodeloo · 31/10/2019 09:34

Course you skip the lesson....!

Whyamiwastingtime · 31/10/2019 09:36

i would watch it but then i like rugby. The all blacks vs England game was absolutely amazing to watch. The wales vs south Africa was great too. I think south africa played really dirty and the ref was weird.. So i just dont know who will win on Sat. It is going to be a great game...

Vintagevixen · 31/10/2019 09:43

I would go to the lesson, quick journey roads will be clear!

But I dislike all competitive sports esp. rugby/football so I'm probably not representative of the general population who seem to go nuts over these things. I honestly couldn't give a stuff who wins.

araiwa · 31/10/2019 09:53

Your dh is silly

He should let you and dd go swimming so he can enjoy it in peace

PBo83 · 31/10/2019 09:54

World Cup...No question

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 31/10/2019 09:55

Oh sack it off, it’ll be an amazing game and so worth watching (says she who won’t be able to watch it Sad)

Butterflyone12e · 31/10/2019 09:55

Your DH is correct. It would be a lovely thing for DD to get involved in. The atmosphere will be fantastic.

Dhalandchips · 31/10/2019 09:56

Rugby!! Child has years to learn to swim!

MatildaTheCat · 31/10/2019 09:58

Rugby. You can take her swimming later in the day.

ManonBlackbeak · 31/10/2019 10:00

Its not a 'once in a lifetime'. England have reached the final twice in the last 20 years, and won in 2003. I get he wants to watch it, but thats a huge overreaction.

SmileyGiraffe · 31/10/2019 10:07

Indeed. It's the fourth time I've seen England in a World Cup final and this is only the ninth.

Bearing in mind the first three were whilst RU was an amateur game, England have made three out of six finals in the professional era - or as likely to make the final as not.

If your DH is a dog and less than 12 years old, then yes, it's once in a lifetime. If he's an actual adult human, it's at least the third time it will have happened (and likely the fourth).

Blobby10 · 31/10/2019 10:09

Rugby World Cup Final trumps swimming every time for me!

Shoxfordian · 31/10/2019 10:20

Depends how much you like rugby really

JacquesHammer · 31/10/2019 10:23

Isn’t a simple issue? If you’re both rugby fans then miss it.

If one of you is a rugby fan and the other isn’t, the other does swimming.

ApacheTomcat · 31/10/2019 10:23

If you like rugby, stay home.

Quartz2208 · 31/10/2019 10:24

It’s not really a once in a lifetime I remember both the 2003 and 2007 finals very clearly and considering it only started 32 years ago....
And there are really only 6/7 teams who arguably are good enough to make the final chances are high it will be repeated
That said it’s personal choice as long as he gets to watch the rugby (his choice) you can do what you want with your 2 year old

youngestisapsycho · 31/10/2019 10:25

Is this because you need him to drive you there? Otherwise why don't you just take her yourself and let him watch the rugby?

Dancetherain · 31/10/2019 10:31

I would choose the rugby but it depends on if you're a fan or not. If you're not then leave dh to it and take dd swimming.

Lonelymum11 · 31/10/2019 10:34

I'd rather do the swimming than watch rugby, but then I don't like rugby. I'd have no issue with DH staying home to watch it though

AnnitaJo · 31/10/2019 10:35

World Cup!!

PanchoBarnes · 31/10/2019 10:36

@ManonBlackbeak , @SmileyGiraffe , @Quartz2208

But it might be a once in a lifetime against the Springboks; with Jones as coach.

Sexnotgender · 31/10/2019 10:37

I’d watch the rugby.

Go Bokke!!

FudgeBrownie2019 · 31/10/2019 10:38

The whole 'once in a lifetime thing' is nonsense but it'll be an incredible game to watch if you've any interest in rugby.

Our DC are missing their martial arts lesson so we can have a breakfast rugby party in honour of the RWC. It's a big deal in our house!

Dahlietta · 31/10/2019 10:38

It would be a lovely thing for DD to get involved in.

I can't imagine a 2 year old is especially likely to give a crap about the rugby. She probably won't care about the swimming either though. If you both want to watch the rugby, watch the rugby. If one of you isn't bothered, that one can take her swimming. Easy.
