That's too long I think.

CantspellWontspell · 30/10/2019 16:12

Open it. Give it a sniff. then scoff with brandy butter and cream.

SalamanderOnHoliday · 30/10/2019 16:14

You might need to liven it up with a little more brandy.....

Waffles80 · 30/10/2019 16:15

DH found one in the cupboard the other day and FED IT TO THE BIRDS. Best before was 2015.

It was a Waitrose fancy one and it smelled delicious on the bird table; it was too late for me to save it by the time I realised.

I’ve told him if he does anything like this again I will feed him to the birds.

Ours is out of date every year! I buy and store it for the following year.

FriedasCarLoad · 30/10/2019 16:23

Don’t eat it!

Send it to me instead and I’ll safely dispose of it for you Wink

stucknoue · 30/10/2019 17:02

I ate a 2014 recently

starlingsintheslipstream · 30/10/2019 17:08

I had one of a similar date. It was left over as me and the kids aren't really fond of it and dh couldn't eat it all. I cooked it up and made chocolate Christmas pudding brownies with it. I then froze them and used them for a work snack - sadly just finished the last today. Definitely be OK I reckon.

bridgetreilly · 30/10/2019 17:09

I probably wouldn't risk saving it for Christmas Day just in case, so I would definitely eat it tonight.

BertieBotts · 30/10/2019 17:10

Oh it will be fine. Maybe a bit dry but I'm assuming it's in its pre-steamed state, anyway, so that will soon moisten it up.

Have some custard with it, yum.

LoyaltyBonus · 30/10/2019 17:11

If it's not furry when you open it it will be absolutely fine

DramaAlpaca · 30/10/2019 17:11

It'll be fine. Pour a generous amount of brandy over it & it'll be even better.

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/10/2019 17:15

Ooh, heat it up, sling on some custard and cream and eat.

SlightlyWizenedHead · 30/10/2019 17:19
Grin Do not eat it! Urk. 4 years is too long
OtraCosaMariposa · 30/10/2019 17:20

It's basically fruit cake and people keep those for DECADES.

Eat it and enjoy it.

user1471430558 · 30/10/2019 17:22

We have one Best before Feb 2007, it must have been out of date when we moved as we have been here for 10 years.
Part of the fixtures & fittings now.

FizzyGreenWater · 30/10/2019 17:24

They are like good wine. Longer the better.

Wallywobbles · 30/10/2019 17:24

It'll be just about ready for eating now. Might want to top up the brandy and put it back for a few years.

hazell42 · 30/10/2019 17:33

Yabu for waiting 4 years to eat a Christmas pudding. It's as much a can do to wait for Christmas day

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 30/10/2019 17:35

I'm sure it'll be lovely!

TinyTempahh · 30/10/2019 17:37
