I have name changed as I've posted this on Facebook and it's obviously very outing!!

Okay so, today I went to the local private hospital for a pre op because I'm having an urgent colonoscopy tomorrow and both hospitals I've been seeing my consultant at are full so I can't have it there as last time my bowel perforated and i needed surgery to fix it and stay in so I need to potentially have a bed. As there are no beds I got sent to the private one! I was happy as I wasn't likely to see any of my colleagues as I work in an operating theatre and quite a lot of my colleagues work over different hospitals but as it's just a scope I thought I'd be safe! However no! I walk in and it's my colleague who is covering the private hospital this week, so tomorrow my colleague I work with on a daily basis will be looking at my bum Blush

So I posted about my experience on Facebook as

@Bummerz sorry to hear about what they found. When are you having surgery?

AutumnalLeaves38 · 30/10/2019 15:17

You're doing really well, OP.

Best of luck for Friday.

  • tomorrow, Thursday, I meant.
Bummerz · 30/10/2019 16:22

@Sunshinelollipops1 tomorrow but it's dependent on emergencies as they initially wanted to ship me to the Manchester royal infirmary but they're talking now about keeping me in the private hospital and doing me tomorrow morning ASAP. Because there are no beds..

@Bummerz fingers crossed you get the surgery tomorrow. Hopefully your pain is being managed.

EleanorLavish · 30/10/2019 20:39

Golly!
Good luck OP.
Hopefully you’ll feel much better free it.

Sunshinelollipops1 · 31/10/2019 09:59

@Bummerz how are you this morning? Any sign on the surgery?

IncrediblySadToo · 31/10/2019 10:24

I don’t do FB but I assume it’s every bit as bad as MN for people being unable to read, comprehend & reply accordingly.

It Drives Me Batshit

He sounds like a decent bloke. I’m glad it ent ok, but sorry to hear what they found. I hope it all goes well tomorrow and that you’re feeling well again soon with all the issues resolved!

I was very lucky last year, I had my appendix removed as an emergency in the middle of the night as they didn’t think it should wait until the following morning. I was fortunate as I hadn’t had any pain at all until the previous afternoon, saw the Dr the next afternoon & had it removed that night. Afterwards he said I was lucky as it was very close to bursting & full of sepsis 🤢

Take care of yourself 🌷

Hello! I had surgery this morning early this morning. And I have a stoma which is currently called Steve. I'm off my tits on drugs but I'm alive and hopefully this is the beginning of a new life. :) Crohns is bollocks but it doesn't define me

Scarydinosaurs · 31/10/2019 18:52

Well done, mate. Here is to a better future! And hey Steve!

User7429001 · 31/10/2019 19:19

Have you heard of 'So Bad Ass' a blog site by Sam Cleasby straight talking blog about the reality of living with IBD. Wishing you a good recovery x

Bummerz · 31/10/2019 21:08

@User7429001 I haven't but thank you!

AutumnalLeaves38 · 31/10/2019 21:31

That must be a huge relief to have the surgery over and done.
Congrats.
Here's to a speedy recovery.

Ah, the post-op stoner feeling!
I once slurringly confided to a recovery room nurse that The Village People were my children.

Sunshinelollipops1 · 31/10/2019 22:39

@Bummerz glad to hear you have had surgery and not in too much pain.

Bummerz · 31/10/2019 22:57

My friend sent me a photo that made me laugh as it's Halloween today 😂. I'm not in any pain I'm off my head on everything, they literally gave me all the drugs! I do have an ng tube drain that is disgusting but I have good friends who are cheering me up on whatsapp

That pic is fab - glad it all went well!

Gemma2019 · 01/11/2019 21:09

Well if you will insist on going private OP Grin

Oh god I really feel for you - I couldn't even imagine how awkward it would be if a colleague of mine was present for my arse operation. I know it's a bit different when you are in the medical profession, but still. I don't suppose there is more than one operating theatre and he might be in the other one? Hope it goes really well with no complications though.

Gemma2019 · 01/11/2019 21:10

Ah didn't read the last page - glad you are ok OP.

Sunshinelollipops1 · 02/11/2019 10:46

@Bummerz glad to hear you are in good spirits. The picture is very funny!
