To ask your toddlers weight??

Mopmum35 · 26/10/2019 23:45

I'm sorry if there are threads already about this but just out of interest how much does your toddler weigh.

My youngest dd 2 and a half ( born in the march) is just over 25 pound, she is very lively and has so much energy and always on the move, she eats lots, but...she is very slim. She was 6lb 9oz born, she's not long had her check and she's running just under 25th centile. I do worry alot to be fair but she well and happy.

Comparing weight is useless, she’s on the charts so she’s doing fine.

peachgreen · 26/10/2019 23:49

I haven't the foggiest and I have no intention of finding out or caring. So long as she's active, eating a good mixed diet and has energy, and her healthcare providers don't raise any concerns, I don't care what she weighs and never will.

GhostHoward · 26/10/2019 23:57

My youngest was under 2 stone until he was 4/4.5. Healthy as you could hope for, just incredibly slight.

Camomila · 27/10/2019 00:06

I once worked out my cenitle...I was on the 3rd centile Grin I'm short with a healthy BMI.

Someone has to be towards the bottom and towards the top and there's a wide range of normal, 25 is much higher than 3 and even 3 is 'normal'.

Chocarocker · 27/10/2019 00:18

I honestly wouldn’t worry yourself over it. As long as she is lively, seems healthy and you say she eats well therefore there doesn’t seem any cause for concern. I have at times worries about my almost 4 year old DD as she is the opposite and at the top end of the centile charts and worried that she would be classed overweight but she was born on the 98th centile and isn’t fat at all just very solid and muscley built so I have given up worrying about it.

bibot · 27/10/2019 00:19

Have her centile stayed pretty steady?

Between 75th and 25th bmi centiles is consider average weight for their height so I wouldn't worry unless she's dropped down the chart a lot.

Jollitwiglet · 27/10/2019 00:21

My 2.5 year old is on the 25th centile. This is in proportion to her height so her paediatrician was happy. If she is well and happy and appears in proportion you shouldn't be worried

Drinkciderfromalemon · 27/10/2019 00:21

My 2 year old was teeny, born small and stayed small. Got to 8 and became a chunk, now teenage and tall and slimming down hugely. Dont worry!

DrVonPatak · 27/10/2019 00:35

She's starting to lose her brown fat, which is baby fat essential for metabolism until the weaning is complete and behaves differently compared to the usual kind of fatty tissue. As long as she's eating normally, active and happy, I would worry too much.

Rubyduby26 · 27/10/2019 00:41

My ds was last weighed at 10 months and was 22lb. He was 75th percentile for weight and 99th for height. He's 18 months now and I would guess he's about 27-30lb? He's really tall though and is wearing 2-3year clothes. He has never ever looked chunky, even the health visitor was shocked at how much he weighed at 10 months as he looks so slim! I'm sure his legs are just filled with stones 😂

Rubyduby26 · 27/10/2019 00:44

Your dd sounds fine btw as she's full of energy and eats well so I wouldn't stress! I have given up stressing now as my DS sometimes seem to survive on fresh air and he is still growing like a weed. They're all different, need different amounts of food and all grow differently Smile

Pleasedontdrawonyoursister · 27/10/2019 01:08

My dd2 was always on the 2nd centile. She did get an extra weight check when she turned 3 but the HV wasn’t concerned at all. (Shes 4 now and smallest in her class, wears 2-3 clothes!). Someone has to be at the top/bottom of the line, it’s just a guide to show they’re growing steadily.

managedmis · 27/10/2019 01:12

My DD is the same age, but 2 months older, born in Jan 2017. Last time she was weighed she was around 25 lbs ish I think. She was 7lbs at birth.

I honestly think she's just a petite little thing. She's growing, but she's actually in the clothes for her age, rather than DS who was in 3-4 clothing as a 2 year old.

elliejjtiny · 27/10/2019 01:40

Not sure about exact weights but my 5 year old was on the 23rd centile for both height and weight last time he was weighed and measured. All my dc are similar sizes apart from dc4 who is on the 91st centile for some reason. Not sure where he gets that from as I'm short and DH is average. The paediatrician thinks dc4 will be over 6ft tall when he is grown up.

absopugginglutely · 27/10/2019 06:29

my 2.5 year old is 2 stone if that helps, 50th centile (just above)

BertieBotts · 27/10/2019 06:33

14mo is about 11.5kg - no idea what that would be in pounds. He's very tall for his age which accounts for the weight apparently.

DS1 was only ever between the 9th and 25th centiles. So it's been a bit of a shock :o

It's good when they are small for age, you get more mileage out of things like car seats and clothing and you don't kill your back hefting them around.

EssentialHummus · 27/10/2019 06:35

2y 1m and on the 91st, has been since weaning. She’s very tall though.

Teateaandmoretea · 27/10/2019 06:37

My 10 year old was always 25th centile for weight, she's now on the tall side of average, slight and sporty.

I do get the concern though, I still worry if she's ill and off her food because she then starts looking too thin very quickly. As long as she's eating well (which she does normally) I never really think about it. I also when she was younger a few times deliberately weighed her at the doctors/ boots to make sure she had put weight on.

FenellaMaxwell · 27/10/2019 06:39

28lbs at 2.9. He’s I think around the 30th/40th for weight but above the 90th for height.

Bibijayne · 27/10/2019 06:43

14 months and he's just 10kg. Which is about 21/22lbs. He's on the 25th centile for weight and height.

I was on the third for most of my childhood. Little bit below at high school where I was just under 4stone and 4'11 when I started.

Ohmygod123 · 27/10/2019 07:07

Both my DC are 25th centile. If she's happy, active, eating and reaching her milestones then don't worry

Mopmum35 · 27/10/2019 09:52

Wow thanks everyone Smile I feel alot better nowSmile
Just go's to show that being on the smaller side/bigger side doesn't matter as long as they are healthy. @Rubyduby26 thankyou, my eldest ds was just the same and now he's 14 and looks like a skinny giant! 🤣

@BertieBotts yes it is an perk with them being on the smaller sideSmile
@managedmis thanks that's made me feel better, my dd is tall for her age some 12-18 cloths fit her perfectly round her waist but short in the legs I cant seem to find anything that fits her in the waist and legs🤦‍♀️ tops seem ok 18-24 and some 2-3 she also has size 7 feet so its obvious she's growing I've just worried myself😫 thanks.
@Teateaandmoretea this is exactly what I worry about, dd is so skinny! And she has been Ill recently and it worried me cos I can already see her ribs and her back bone ect.

I get lots of comments "oh isnt she so skinny" which after a while makes me think if they think I'm feeding dd☹ I've just worried myself

I think that with her being rather tall aswell brings out her skinniness, my boys were average weight when born ( 7.7 & 7.3) but took after dad with growing they were always top of centile, my girls seem to follow me.
@Ohmygod123 thankyou.
Thanks every one.

Yeah buying clothes is a total nightmare and will be for years if she stays the same. I got dd a lot of Next slim fit jeans (although they've reduced the choice latterly). Sainsbury's and H&M I found narrower than some of the other brands on average. I think a lot of children's clothes are cut wide - a 4 in 'adults' is often narrower than an 11-12 which I must admit I find slightly bizarre.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 27/10/2019 14:25

My 10 month old is 24lb.
He was born 3 weeks early 8lb 15ozs

He's my smallest of the three I've had.

amy85 · 27/10/2019 14:57

I have the opposite problem DD who is nearly 4 is on the 98th percentile both weight and height
