AIBU to think that the Willys should be moved?

There are two branches of Poundland near us. Both stock a range of hen party type products, Penis straws, penis deelie boppers etc. Both stores display them on a low/middle shelf opposite sections that are for kids. One lot is situated directly opposite the toys and in the other store they are situated opposite the kids craft equipment.
AIBU to think that if they are going to sell them they should be situated elsewhere? My DS (11) asked me why they sell them and said that he thinks its inappropriate opposite the little kids toys etc.
They have been positioned like this for months now. On one occasion I was in Poundland without the kids (my life is that glamorous) and spoke to the manager. I mentioned that it's maybe not the ideal place for them. She said that she agreed and has had lots of complaints but when she has questioned it with her superiors they insist that, that is the plan for the store so that's where they are displayed.

Write to head office. What is a deelie bopper

rainingallday · 24/10/2019 22:08

@RubyPatterson

YANBU.

Your post did make me laugh though. Grin

AIBU to think that the Willys should be moved?
LoveNote · 24/10/2019 22:10

really? i cant see a problem....its just a body part you know!

besides, kids little eyes will be on the toy section, not the stuff BEHIND them

RubyPatterson · 24/10/2019 22:12

Exactly like that but instead of the balls, an erect penis on each spring.
I thought of writing to head office but the Manager said that feedback had been ignored.

It’s a bit odd placing them opposite the kids toys but I’m not sure what you’re worried about? A child asking what they are? Just answer them honestly!

rainingallday · 24/10/2019 22:12

@HappyHammy

Deelie boppers....

Cross post with @OwlinaTree Smile

MiddleClassProblem · 24/10/2019 22:15

Did not know there was a name for them! Are you sure they are not called bouncy antenna headbands?

georgialondon · 24/10/2019 22:19

It really wouldn't bother me. They're not actual penises.

RosemarysBroomstick · 24/10/2019 22:20

Bit inappropriate but I wouldn’t get worked up about it, can’t really see the harm in it.
Love deelie boppers! I had silver stars as a little girl, like the ones raining had posted. I loved them so much! I wonder where that name originated....

rainingallday · 24/10/2019 22:23

@MiddleClassProblem

'bouncy antenna headbands?' DOES sound more suitable! Grin

And I think some companies do call them that!

But deelie boppers are a name that they have always been known as.. Smile bouncy antenna headbands isn't wrong though. They are called this too sometimes...

frostedviolets · 24/10/2019 22:23

My kids would find that hilarious I'm sure!
I think it's a bit of an overreaction tbh.
It's a perfectly normal body part all males have.
I find the gruesome Halloween stuff more offensive.

Higginstone · 24/10/2019 22:24

Yanbu but you're going to get loads of posts from the so woke they're asleep brigade along the lines of "it's just another body part". Yeah right so that's why they also sell deely boppers with arms on, right, because they're not referencing a sex organ on purpose for salacious reasons. Ffs.

Higginstone · 24/10/2019 22:27

Aaand there we are already. @frostedviolets if a guy showed off his cock to your son would you regard it as the same as a guy pushing up his shirt sleeves? For fucking fucks sakes.

MintyMabel · 24/10/2019 22:28

Like the thing I read on Twitter where someone couldn’t remember the word “reservation” when calling a restaurant so asked for a “food appointment”

MintyMabel · 24/10/2019 22:31

It really wouldn't bother me. They're not actual penises.

And people aren’t actually being murdered in gruesome movies, or aren’t actually having sex in 18 rated movies. Wouldn’t want a kid to watch them, would you.

MiddleClassProblem · 24/10/2019 22:31

food appointment I need one of these. Although I’d be tempted to go private rather than nhs 😂

Higginstone · 24/10/2019 22:37

Good point @mintymabel. Dildos aren't actual penises either but I wouldn't want them displayed where kids can see.

Dramaofallama · 24/10/2019 22:37

I actually saw these last week, they had the penis straws but they were on the top rack in the poundland where I live.
I did think it was strange at the time for poundland to sale them as it is normally ann summers that do.

JigsawsAreInPieces · 24/10/2019 22:43

I feel like buying penis deelie boppers for the over 60s club’s Xmas lunch. Some of them old girls would love it. Halloween Grin

frostedviolets · 24/10/2019 22:44

😂😂😂

What a bizarre comparison!
They are nowhere near the same.

In what possible innocent context would a man whip his cock out in front of a child..?

Penis shaped lolly pops or penis head boppers, gosh, even a card showing a couple shagging are just not comparable to the situation you describe.

I do not find images of perfectly normal body parts that half the population have offensive, nor do I find images of (normal, consensual) sex that pretty much everyone will engage in eventually offensive.

I wouldn't even be offended by nudists, we all have those body parts and there is nothing bad about them.

Unless you use them deliberately to make others feel uncomfortable, like your strange example of a clothed man whopping his cock out on the sight of a child.

What I do find offensive are things that cause actual harm or frighten others or glorify violence.

I wouldn't be offended by penis pasta for example but I would be offended by a mug that had a sexist, derogatory comment on it.

5zeds · 24/10/2019 22:46

I think it’s utterly inappropriate. How could it not be? Keep the sex silly willy jokes away from small children, is hardly prudish ffs.

Meirou90 · 24/10/2019 22:46

Strange layout and in bad taste. I’m not overly bothered but I find it questionable why it would be planned like that.
