Got an envelope pushed through the door just now and in it was a ring. Not a particularly expensive one not that it matters. It didn't look new. On the envelope it had a phone number inside but it was not written, sort of stuck on numbers. I am a bit wtf to be honest. What's that all about?!

I got a weird note through my door once. It was worrying enough to call the police and they took it quite seriously. Then called me back a few days later to report more in the area.

They decided it was someone with mental health issues and I never had another.

I think someone's playing a prank on the poor guy whose phone number it was. Maybe his ex has been posting all sorts of stuff to loads of different people at random, with his number attached to it, hoping that he'll get loads of weird calls as a result? Really weird though.

Maybe it’s the beginning of a cryptic puzzle journey. The ring meant to literally ring the number. Now you must await your next clue.

I think man on phone is suspected of/having affair. Wife finds out. Goes to OW house and puts her ring in the envelope as a "fuck you, you're welcome to him, do call him to let him know"

Except wife should have gone to Specsavers, as she's bodged the address and has now sassily delivered her ring to a random bemused woman.

If you're on Facebook, try searching for the phone number then if the guy comes up see if you have any mutual friends.

From what he said, his ex is known to play silly games so most likely, the scenario is she is playing games to mess with him and my house just happened to be the one she picked. He is going to talk with her about it but I doubt she will admit it or I will hear of the outcome

Maybe the ring was found outside your house, the finder jotted down their number ans stuffed t through your door BUT got 1 digit wrong so you spoke to the bloke instead.

Of thee bloke you rang's loopy ex suspects you are having an affair with him and stuck the ring through to tell you she knows - but has got it very wrong.
