How about this?
(I'm avoiding the ironing not belittling your taste. I like all of the others and if I looked slightly less like a sack of spuds with eyes I'd wear any of them!)

Nancydrawn · 22/10/2019 14:10

For an evening only, I think the last dress is fine. It's less try-hard than the first and a fun kind of hot.

Wonderwally · 22/10/2019 14:11

No dress 3 looks like a bridesmaid in mourning dress, they will definitely think you want the bride /groom for yourself.

I was never concerned about wedding attire until the most gorgeous looking girl turned up to my cousins wedding in a white lace fitted dress. My partner thought she was the bride!

diddl · 22/10/2019 14:12

Ooh, like the last one best!

Wonderwally · 22/10/2019 14:12

I like last one best as well.

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/10/2019 14:14

If I was young, slimmer and going to the evening do only I think the first one is fine. Especially is the bride is young. The second one makes you look like a giant present.

SVRT19674 · 22/10/2019 14:15

I wouldn't wear it on any occasion. I wore a black dress once, but discreet and with turquoise and pink accessories. You don't want to look like a member of the Adams family at a wedding.

ThatMuppetShow · 22/10/2019 14:15

Dress 4 is suitable too.

On another note, WHO really think someone is mourning the bride or groom by wearing black to a wedding nowadays?!? Grin Grin Grin

Alsohuman · 22/10/2019 14:22

Dress 4 without a doubt.

Thurmanmurman · 22/10/2019 14:26

I like but not for a wedding. As a PP said people may think you are trying to upstage the bride. I went to a wedding recently and the bride’s sister was wearing a really low cut dress, cut down to just above her belly button. It was also the shortest length a dress can be without being a top! Everyone thought she was a total dick for wearing it.

notthemum · 22/10/2019 14:28

So here are my thoughts in order of preference
4
2
3
1 (pref not)
Let us know what you wear.
Enjoy

Kenworthington · 22/10/2019 14:32

The burgundy one I think is typical wedding outfit but I think you’ll rock it and make it look cool. Last embellished one is lush. I also have tattoos and piercings. I’d want to feel like myself too. I’d wear both of those but accessorise the hell out of that burgundy one.

Paddington68 · 22/10/2019 14:33

OP - do you not have any gay male friends that could point you in the right direction?

Kenworthington · 22/10/2019 14:33

I also would and have worn black to a wedding. It’s titally fine. It’s the style and fabric of the first own which is not ok

fishonabicycle · 22/10/2019 14:45

Wear what you want and.what makes you feel good. Far too many pursed lips on here!

Rightyoh · 22/10/2019 14:53

I’m going to pop out when DH gets home. If I can’t find anything, I’ll go for the ASOS one.

good luck

RhodaDendron · 22/10/2019 15:22

I love the skirt. I would wear it with a cute structured tshirt over the top! But I am old...

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 22/10/2019 15:30

I’m 38(really don’t look it) size 10, tattoos, very short Hair. This 2nd dress isn’t really my style, but I must conform

No, you really must not. I like the first one. The second one is also nice but ..... you may end up looking like everyone else. I'm 52, hardly a hair to my name, facial piercings, no tattoos: I'd rock the first one, no problem at all. And .... I look every year of my 52 Shock

ShinyGiratina · 22/10/2019 15:36

Dresses 2, 3 or 4 are fine.

I think the model for dress 3 is too busty for it. The skirt is bulky, and there's not enough distinction around the waist, it suits a straighter build.

Is dress 4 lined? I wouldn't buy a sequined dress without trying it as they can be very rough and scratchy which is a shame as they look great.

Derbee · 22/10/2019 15:50

3 & 4 are nice.

But if it’s a crowd of people you know, and dress 1 is your usual type of outfit, I don’t see the problem? Everyone will be used to you dressing a bit errrrm you know. So it might be strange to suddenly arrive at a social event looking like a standard wedding guest?

BourbonAndTea · 22/10/2019 15:59

WEAR IT! It's lovely!

squishyduck · 22/10/2019 16:19

I love it!!!
