And croutons Typing as I eat a lovely hot bowl of mulligatawny soup. I don't get how people could spoil it with a dry piece of bread - soup is much better on it's own. Am I being unusual?

yanbu. I don't object to bread with soup, but I hate being served a huge lump of bread and a tiny bowl of soup. W.T.A.F. I could have got that from the supermarket next door to the cafe. Much would prefer huge soup & no bread at all.

Of course YABU. A nice warm chunk of sourdough with a slab of butter, makes a chunky homemade soup into a proper meal. Love the nights drawing in!

I'm going to have to make soup tomorrow. DH told me after 4 year of marriage and me serving it often that he doesn't really like soup. I've chosen to forget he said that.

Oatcakes are surprisingly great with soup. On their own they are dry and boring but with soup they are lovely.
