Omg what to do - massive RAT!

Sorry didn't know where to post. I kept hearing squealing noises all evening (thought it was a trapped kitten - live in central London ground floor flat). Look outside, RIGHT outside my back door I look down to the drain and there's a mothetfucking huge ass rat there obviously stuck.
I've tried calling pest control no luck. Husband is away and I'm alone with a baby and freaked out.
Please help!

@Amimissingsomethinghere I'm sorry . I just hate even the thought of rats I've had them before and it was hellish. Sure it's an animal but I don't want it around me!. I will kill it anyway I can. They are dirty smelly disgusting and disease ridden! Horrid!

I've been reading that a lot of them are going to be trying to get into houses because their holes are flooded due to the rains and I'm so terrified

I used to take my car out for drives when I lived in Cork. I could travel quite far in the afternoon. One day, I had overdone the driving a bit and pulled over by one of the Madonna shrines for a stretch and fresh air. I was staring at the statue on a little bank and saw a long black shadow. It was rat after rat after rat slipping down from behind the statue into the stream. I nearly vomited as there must have been hundreds.

Any time I walked past a hedgerow on those country lanes, if I heard a rustle I would dive into the road.

Oh god. I can't stop getting freaked out at any sign of movement in the house. I know the rat was outside but I'm just so freaked out. Cannot relax ughhhhhhhhhhh

I once watched hundreds of rats swarming through Nottingham city centre, late one night. It was horrific. I looked carefully, but no sign of the Pied Piper.

@myolivetree There was no pavement and you would be walking alongside the hedge. If a car went by, you would just move close to the hedge to give the car space to drive by but whenever I heard a rustle I would dive into the road (was probably told stories about the rats in the hedges as a child!)

I looked up rat king on google. Big mistake.

I was camping in a very rural area in Scotland and two got in my tent. Do I win? They were sort of small and brown, not like the big beasties you seen in London with tattoos.

It would have been rat poison down the drain in my local community! That's what pest control would do I bet money on it.

How awful. I know someones whose two dogs died from rat poison. Should be banned
