It's half term, we want to see a show and sight see- will Brexit day (or Halloween) impact our trip?
DH thinks IABU!

I don’t think the EU are going to invade the minute we leave...! You will be fine.

wherehavealltheflowersgone · 16/10/2019 18:03

It's not half term for London schools so it'll be quieter for you! Millions will be going to work in London as usual that day so I don't see why it would be a bad idea? Confused

TheRobinIsBobbingAlong · 16/10/2019 18:04

Buses and trains won't stop running on 31/10. Unless BoJo comes up with a deal this week it'll all get delayed anyway.

Zebraaa · 16/10/2019 18:06

What do you think is going to happen?

Sparklesocks · 16/10/2019 18:07

You’ll be completely fine, at worst maybe sold an overpriced sarnie along the way

FreeStar · 16/10/2019 18:11

He thinks there might be some protests, violence (the theatre is quite near Westminster) and Halloween pranksters who take things a bit too far and cause trouble!

PeterRabbitt · 16/10/2019 18:13

Hang on?! Is it really not half term up there that week?!?!

ForalltheSaints · 16/10/2019 18:13

It will be half term so it will be crowded, other than that probably no different from October 30th.

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 16/10/2019 18:15

Anything could happen

Passmethepepsi · 16/10/2019 18:15

It’s not half term that week where I am either but I’m nowhere near London. I’d still go and enjoy.

betternamepending · 16/10/2019 18:15

There might be some ghosts and zombies lurking about with carved pumpkins.

Samosaurus · 16/10/2019 18:20

Erm what do you think is going to happen? Your DH does realise that the millions of regular people who live there are not planning a mass exodus to leave the streets run by outlaws or such doesn’t he? Honestly some of the things I read people think about London are mind-boggling!

EdinburghFox · 16/10/2019 18:21

There'll be protests on Parliament Square, nowhere near the theatres. The nearest 'West End' theatre would be the Playhouse and that's the other end of Northumberland Avenue.

There will be halloween costumes.

NoCauseRebel · 16/10/2019 18:23

I voted remain, but seriously some of this Brexit hysteria is ridiculous. What exactly does your DH think is going to happen on the 31st?

We’re going to leave the EU and then what? I know there may be some implications but seriously some of the crap that people come out with really doesn’t show remainers in a very good light at all.

inwood · 16/10/2019 18:28

It is still half term for those on a two week half term.

I along with millions of others will be commuting in as normal, it honestly hasn't crossed my mind that anything may happen!

Davros · 16/10/2019 18:31

Our half term is the week before but many schools have 2 weeks going into that week

Isleepinahedgefund · 16/10/2019 18:33

I think the chaos may well ensue as soon as no deal becomes definite - and that will be before 31st.

Lhastingsmua · 16/10/2019 18:33

I hate hysterical threads like this lol

Honestly - what are you expecting to happen? You do realise that millions of people live in London and go about their normal lives every day without issue?

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 16/10/2019 18:34

I live in London and I'm not quite sure what people are expecting to happen here. I've seen a couple of threads like this.

Topseyt · 16/10/2019 18:35

Go to London on that date if you want to. Brexit protests are usually centred around Parliament Square.

Surely no reason not to visit the theatre in London on that day. Londoners will be going about their daily business as usual, not abandoning their city to the lawless.

I am a remain voter. No need for hysteria over whether to visit London or not. Just do it.

Lhastingsmua · 16/10/2019 18:44

Halloween pranksters who take things a bit too far and cause trouble!

Christ🙄 as a Londoner, Halloween is just a normal day! You may come across people in the evening that are in Halloween themed outfits/makeup or people that are dressed to go clubbing. You know, people that are just trying to have fun with their friends and not harass random people? Particularly students that couldn’t give a fuck about a middle aged couple and/or their children? Not sure why he thinks anyone will bother to target you for a “prank”

Protests will probably happen, yes. But Londoners find protests bloody annoying, it’s not something the average Londoner is interested in as we generally keep to ourselves. Very much doubt it will get violent. Brexit has been ongoing for years and Londoners are already well aware of the prospect of No Deal’, it’s hardly going to be a sudden Armageddon on the 31st. There will likely be a high police presence and emergency services have a very rapid response time in central London.

BadSun · 16/10/2019 18:50

I don't think London on October 31st will be any different to any other day.

FreeStar · 16/10/2019 18:51

See, I told DH exactly the same sort of things that you all are! Booking tickets now! Can't wait!

OP posts:
BadSun · 16/10/2019 18:55

I feel like anyone who is worried about "halloween pranksters in the big city" must be from a small hamlet in the 1950s.

WreckTangled · 16/10/2019 18:57

We're going to see school of rock in London Halloween. Can't wait. Got pretty decent tickets for £15 each. Will also visit Waterstones in Piccadilly Circus as the dc love it. Not sure what else yet but certainly not concerned re brexit
