I don't care what they look like. They could channel Dame Edna if they wanted.

We have moved into a flat for 2 months and all our stuff is in storage. I think my glasses are in the back end of beyond in there. I can't believe I misplaced them, I wear them every evening and morning.

I can't buy cheap ones from the shop or online for £1.50 because they are short sighted not reading glasses.

Can anyone help??

Cheapest pair £30 after they made me add stuff on that they gave me no choice about and I hadn't even got to the prescription part

Go to the Smart Buy Glasses Hong Kong website. You can get prescription glasses for a fraction of the price. (It’s a reputed HK brand and regulated in China. Does take 2-3 weeks to arrive but great quality).

I get mine from select specs, one eye is really bad, so I can't just buy. I get the very cheap ones, ordering 3 or 4 pairs and just paying one shipping fee. Never had a problem.

arvinarvinwait · 13/10/2019 17:46

Select specs, £6 all in and they were so good I ordered another pair!
Not very quick delivery, maybe 7-10 days though?

happytoday73 · 13/10/2019 17:48

I'm not sure why you can't buy them in a shop. The glasses can be for short sighted or long. They definately sell -2 prescription... Just like they sell +2....the only difference really is price and the fact they don't work if your eyes have different prescription or astigmatism... If lucky enough to just be - 2 then they should be fine...

Reglaze Glasses Direct are pretty good for replacement lenses, if/when you've already got frames. :)

ColdRainAgain · 13/10/2019 17:51

Amazon any good

Livelovebehappy · 13/10/2019 17:52

Poundland do +2 ones definitely. They might also do -2?

WrongKindOfFace · 13/10/2019 17:58

Specsavers do compete glasses from £19.

BananaPeach · 13/10/2019 17:59

No. + prescription glasses are for reading. Ones with a prescription of -2 are for distance. That means you could be driving in them. You cannot buy ones like that off the peg. They have to be made to prescription.

One of these online places are the best option op.

If you want to go to a proper opticians, then £45 at Asda. Highly recommend.

Suze1621 · 13/10/2019 18:29

I have picked up cheap reading glasses from Aldi, Lidl and Home Bargains for a couple of pounds each. Keep a spare spare in car and swimming bag.

Shoppingwithmother · 13/10/2019 18:32

You should not be able to buy ready made distance glasses in the UK. Ready made glasses are meant to be for presbyopia (to correct reading vision in people roughly over 40) only, and only available in plus prescriptions.

Ready made reading glasses are not ideal either, but can be useful as spare pairs and for short periods of reading.

Buying a -2.00 pair of glasses from Amazon and wearing them all day long for distance really is not advisable. The prescription of most ready made glasses is not as advertised anyway, and even if it was, it is highly unlikely to be the correct prescription for both (or indeed either!) of your eyes. The centration of the lenses will also not be correct for you, which can have a marked effect on your vision and comfort.

MirandaWest · 13/10/2019 18:33

Why are people suggesting reading glasses? That’s not what the OP needs.

Do you wear contact lenses the rest of the time? Wearing them morning and evening otherwise sounds unusual.

Mitebiteatnite · 13/10/2019 18:36

As someone above has mentioned, Specsavers now do complete glasses from £19. I've just treated myself to 3 different pairs for less than what I'd usually pay for one! On top of the 4 pairs I already had, I can now wear a different pair every day of the week! Turnaround time is usually pretty quick too.

Busybusybust · 13/10/2019 18:39

I always buy my -2.5 reading glasses at the pound shop. I buy 4 pairs at a time, as no glasses last very if they spend half their lives hung round you neck. Perfectly satisfactory!

BarkandCheese · 13/10/2019 18:44

The op wants distance glasses not reading glasses, they are not remotely the same thing.

Frustratedandscaredmum · 13/10/2019 18:51

Go to your local supermarket pharmacy they have ready made glasses of different prescription usually on the same stand as the sunglasses. They normally cost £2-£5

Wombleish · 13/10/2019 18:55

The glasses you buy in Poundland and other discount stores etc are NOT what the OP means. They sell reading glasses, which have a + number, not distance glasses which have a - number. Busybusybust, you must have bought +2.5 glasses, not -2.5. You need to have a prescription for distance lenses, which even the online sites require you to have.
