Help! How can I find some very very cheap -2.00 prescription glasses??

I don't care what they look like. They could channel Dame Edna if they wanted.

We have moved into a flat for 2 months and all our stuff is in storage. I think my glasses are in the back end of beyond in there. I can't believe I misplaced them, I wear them every evening and morning.

I can't buy cheap ones from the shop or online for £1.50 because they are short sighted not reading glasses.

Can anyone help??

  • 2 is not the same as +2. The op does not want reading glasses. They cannot be bought in the pound shop or chemist.

THANK YOU!
I just bought the amazon bet lynch looking ones. £8.99 arriving tomorrow.

I had actually searched on Amazon myself but couldn't find any???? That link worked though thank you.

I'm not sure why you can't buy them in a shop I always look in shops when I see glasses, in order to 'stock up' so to speak. But I've never, ever found any - prescriptions. Always +

I always buy my -2.5 reading glasses at the pound shop.

You really didn't.

Selectspecs. They have £6 frames which have all been brilliant. Ive had about 5 diff pairs

NoDontLookAtMeImShy · 13/10/2019 19:05

I searched on Amazon myself again and couldn't find them.

How did you manage to find them and send me that link? What was it you typed in?

OP - On Amazon, you either type in “short sighted glasses” or “short sighted myopia” (the ones @ColdRainAgain sent are AmazonChoice for the search term “short sighted myopia” apparently?). But just putting in the words, “short sighted glasses,” I got about 10 results that all offered -2.00 as an option. Hope that works?

ColdRainAgain · 13/10/2019 19:17

@NoDontLookAtMeImShy I started typing prescription glasses, and Amazon offered me an autofill of "for dusrande"
So, search of "prescription glasses for distande" in Amazon should bring some up.

ColdRainAgain · 13/10/2019 19:19

Obviously, those scrambled words are both distance... not sure what autofill thinks I'm trying to write Blush

NoDontLookAtMeImShy · 13/10/2019 19:20

Gotcha!!
I had been typing in "-2.00 glasses" and failed.

Thanks for your help!

Good for you op but that is massively irresponsible of Amazon.
Also, the chances of your prescription being exactly -2 with no cyl in both eyes is slim to none.

They are going to do to get you out of a tight spot but please get some proper ones made soon op.

MirandaWest · 13/10/2019 20:03

What do you during the daytime when you’re not wearing your glasses?

NoDontLookAtMeImShy · 13/10/2019 20:18

Contact lenses.

You're right they aren't both -2.00, I'm due an eye test anyway so I will get on it.

Thanks again.

If you use contact lenses during the day, whubdint you just have in the evening until you find your glasses?

My suggestion would have been to order contacts but if you already have them...

PancakeAndKeith · 13/10/2019 20:35

Are you getting the -2 from your contact lenses?
That’ll be different from your glasses prescription.

Rezie · 13/10/2019 20:37

@Branleuse selctspecs sounds interesting. Is there a catch since it's so cheap? Sounds too good to be true...and when it comes to glasses it usually is Envy

NoDontLookAtMeImShy · 13/10/2019 21:31

No my glasses are -2.00, one eye is -1.75 but my contact lenses are both -2.00, I adjust those myself as my eyesight gets worse.
I haven't had an eye test in a while my glasses need to me stronger as well but it's only for the evening and the morning.

And no I don't want to wear my contacts in the evening. My eyes get really dry by the end of the day. Plus if I have a bath and wash my face they need to come out and then I can't see anything.

I realise everything I do is Really Bad. I know.

MirandaWest · 13/10/2019 21:52

Please do have a sight test and also a contact lens check. If your eye sight is getting worse then you find out what your prescription actually is.

I know I probably sound annoying but you only have one pair of eyes and they do need to be looked after (mine are -11 so really need glasses when I’ve taken my contact lenses out!)

AmIThough · 14/10/2019 05:00

@NoDontLookAtMeImShy vision express are doing free tests at the moment if you book online

Thanks I've just booked an appointment request. They are going to call me with a time.

OP posts:
Shoppingwithmother · 14/10/2019 19:27

You shouldn’t be able to do hardly any of the things you are doing with your eyes.

Nobody should be selling ready made distance glasses - it is against regulations.

You should not be changing your own contact lenses prescription and nobody should be selling you any contact lenses other than according to an in-date prescription from a qualified optician.

NoDontLookAtMeImShy · 15/10/2019 11:34

The glasses are no good. They are wobbly and weird. I think they would give me a migraine.

But I found my original glasses.

Nonetheless I'm still making an appointment especially since it's free.

Thanks again for your help.
