To ask where I can buy nice bed linen that doesn’t require me to remortgage my house?!!

For reasons that are too boring and outing to enter into, I recently threw away most of my nice bed linen. Not that I had a whole load, but a couple of pretty sets from The White Company that I bought years ago.

I’m really struggling with their prices now though - even in the sale! Some of the double duvet covers cost over £200?!! The cheapest are around £80.

So where can I buy nice bed linen that doesn’t cost the earth? I’m after: white, 100% cotton, but something pretty- embroidered, or with a bit of trim, a bit of detail. Your suggestions please!

I third La redoute when they have one of their sales on. It’s excellent quality and well designed. Better quality than my White company and JL stuff I would say.

UterusUterusGhali · 11/10/2019 23:41

Oh yes, La Redoute for different sizes and patterned pillowcases and kids stuff.
They do 100% cotton but interesting patterns.

Another TKMaxx and Homesense vote

Argos

Ooh can’t believe I’m the first to say it! Hampton & Astley have gorgeous bedding, super soft cotton that washes great. They have 50% off sales every 2/3 months. There towels are also fantastic. Enjoy!

King of Cotton, all mine is from there. John Lewis is good too.

Dunelm, but only the Dorma range. The rest is tat

Derbee · 12/10/2019 01:59

I’ve seen a few PPs say Bedeck. But I found it really shitty and cheap feeling. Dunelm Dorma is really lovely. Nicer than places likemJohn Lewis IMO. A lot of the duvet covers have zips, which we love

Teddybear45 · 12/10/2019 02:31

Go on Amazon India and search for Bombay Dyeing. A lot of the sellers will ship to the UK free and you will get White Company or Harrods ‘Quality’ for under a tenner.

Iv got a lovely set from Tesco home. Was £30 for a king size an it's lovely. Also the range is fairly cheap and Catherine lansfield is it? Iv had a few of them too xx

Monty27 · 12/10/2019 03:38

. Marking my place.

Monty27 · 12/10/2019 03:42

Thing is budgets differ as does quality. My bedding is so old but I'm skint and won't replace it until I find quality I can afford. I'm single so no hurry.
King size duvet though 😁

timeforachange123 · 12/10/2019 07:08

La Redoute do many pure cotton sets. Very reasonably priced particularly when they have the 40% off weeks

TheWernethWife · 12/10/2019 07:53

I got a king size duvet cover from £30 from TK Maxx - it was Designer Guild

SeaRabbit · 12/10/2019 08:02

I found Tielle after I had a glorious sleep in a smart hotel, and they told that is where they got their bed linen from:

ZaraW · 12/10/2019 08:04

Zara Home the bedding I have is made in Spain or Italy.

LeaderoftheAteam · 12/10/2019 08:07

Dubelm lasts really well

Janicejaniceahmfallin · 12/10/2019 08:16

Be careful buying overseas (Amazon India etc) - not everyone’s experience, I know, but I once bought a really lovely set of bed linen from India & it arrived with HMRC customs stickers all over it. By the time I paid the import duty I might as well have bought it here. And the quality really wasn’t great. Expensive mistake!

SaveKevin · 12/10/2019 08:26

ASDa, genuinely Asda.
Cheap, lasts for years and great quality.

TiddleTaddleTat · 12/10/2019 08:30

I've had some excellent 100% linen duvet sets from H&M

Fairylea · 12/10/2019 08:34

Another vote for Asda (George Online). You can check the cotton content of the different covers and they do have some that are 100% cotton. So nice and such good value. I would never spend more than £40 max on a duvet cover even if I could afford to, you can get such lovely ones for so much cheaper than that.

Yaflamingalah · 12/10/2019 08:55

We bought three sets of the Aldi 400 thread count last year and they are superb. We have a super king bed and I think the duvet covers were around £50 or £60. They definitely had them in the special buys before Christmas last year.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 12/10/2019 09:30

Thanks Girl and Orchard - Kings of Cotton it was!

PiratePetespajamas · 12/10/2019 09:54

You lot are fab - so many great suggestions I’d never have known or thought of! That’s my weekend sorted! Thanks!
