To ask where I can buy nice bed linen that doesn’t require me to remortgage my house?!!

For reasons that are too boring and outing to enter into, I recently threw away most of my nice bed linen. Not that I had a whole load, but a couple of pretty sets from The White Company that I bought years ago.

I’m really struggling with their prices now though - even in the sale! Some of the double duvet covers cost over £200?!! The cheapest are around £80.

So where can I buy nice bed linen that doesn’t cost the earth? I’m after: white, 100% cotton, but something pretty- embroidered, or with a bit of trim, a bit of detail. Your suggestions please!

Debenhams - they have so many sales xxx

Janicejaniceahmfallin · 11/10/2019 21:45

Sign up to La Redoute and wait for a sale - lovely pure linen or cotton & they regularly take off 40-60%, you just have to hang on for a bit - they seem to have a sale every 5 minutes. And H&M. Good quality for the price.

TheHumanSatsuma · 11/10/2019 21:46

Definitely T K Maxx

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 11/10/2019 21:47

La Redoute for some great linen sheets.

Maltybiscuit · 11/10/2019 21:48

I like Bedeck

I have bought several sets of M&S bedding from a company that deals on Ebay. The packaging is wonky but the product is as it would be if bought from the store.
Attempt to link - don't know if this is allowed though!

John Lewis. I’ve just got a load of bedding this week at 20% off.

The offer has now finished but it’s def worth looking out for the discounts

bookwormsforever · 11/10/2019 21:50

Debenhams -lovely quality and they always have a sale on...

MilkLady02 · 11/10/2019 21:59

I’ve had some really nice (and reasonably priced) bedding from Dove Mill.

Also TK Maxx!

Brand alley has some gorgeous bed linen at the moment. Dh has just worn his toenail through our oldest duvet cover so I think I'm going to treat myself us

kateandme · 11/10/2019 22:07

Asda.ikea.

RubyViolet · 11/10/2019 22:12

I would love Linen sheets and a duvet but l don’t have a tumble dryer. On the H&M home product description it suggests tumbling them to keep them soft.
So l suppose Linen is out for me when l think of how linen shirts feel after l have put them through the wash.

Fi1982 · 11/10/2019 22:21

Tesco Fox and Ivy do 100% cotton in all sizes, lots of plain white with some detailing. Definitely not £200 a pop!

Apileofballyhoo · 11/10/2019 22:25

I have a lovely set I was given as a present from IKEA. Have them for about 10 years and the cotton just gets softer and nicer. Lovely and crisp when washed. Also have a couple of sets from Debenhams that are fine but they aren't quite as good quality.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 11/10/2019 22:34

Theres a website which sells hotel quality linens off cheap. Either seconds or unwanted I think.

But hopefully another MNer knows the name because its vanished from my head!

Rosie2000 · 11/10/2019 22:41

Matalan- buy my 100% cotton bedding from there. Washes well and great quality. I also had to replace all my bed linen and I’m really happy with it.

Believe it or not it was my husband who introduced me to good bedding--another vote for Dunelm (specifically Dorma bedding). So soft and comfortable it's honestly worth the cost. It does mean we only have 2 duvet sets but I swear I sleep better with the better quality covers!

Girlonatubetrain2 · 11/10/2019 22:48

I think Kings of cotton is the hotel quality linen one?

ChicCroissant · 11/10/2019 22:49

Dunelm is good, has all kinds of brands there.

Orchardgreen · 11/10/2019 22:51

King of Cotton supply hotels. It’s made in Portugal in the factory that supplies the White Company, but much cheaper.

Simonfromharlow · 11/10/2019 22:58

Bedeck

stucknoue · 11/10/2019 23:13

Mine are Aldi hotel collection, 400 thread count but you have to wait of course until they get them again

stucknoue · 11/10/2019 23:18

But need new ones ... fresh start now he's moved out! Just bought towels, I really want a bed!

UterusUterusGhali · 11/10/2019 23:38

TK Maxx and dunelm.
I’ve bought slowly but well. A piece here and there so I can justify a lot on a good cotton sheet etc.
Covers from TKMaxx and extra large good quality sheets from dunelm.
I’ve got stuff from White Co & JL but they have been disappointing
