Hi all, long time lurker here and I'm looking for a bit of advice/reassurance.
I went to visit my gp beginning of the week, something I have been putting off but that's been nagging away at me but at first the symptoms were so vague, it didn't seem worth bothering.
After examining me, he didn't say much, said he would order a scan and send me for blood tests.
Looked at the blood test form and one of the tests is CA125, looked it up and test for ovarian cancer I believe, also I had a phone call next day to go for a scan this week! Am I right to be very concerned or are they just being over cautious?
Symptoms are:
Severe bloating all the time, almost need maternity clothes, look heavily pregnant (definitely not a pregnancy)
Need to pee all the time!
Should say the bloating isn't just in abdomen, it goes all the way up to under bust.
I have no pain whatsoever, just a lot of gas.
Question is really - is this what I think or could it be something else?
Can't find anything on the internet as to what else it could be, if anyone could help I would be grateful.
Thanks for reading. (I'm 46 btw)

Sounds like you have a large mass in your abdomen- probably an ovarian cyst those things can be huge!

TheMustressMhor · 14/10/2019 18:25

Thinking of you and praying for you Jasmine.

Hope all is well. What a worrying time for you.

Artesia · 14/10/2019 18:28

Thinking of you OP- I went through exactly the same this summer- extremely elevated CA125 result. The GP was very concerned and I was rushed in for follow up appointment and scan. Turned out to be ok thank goodness, but totally understand the fear and panic it causes. It doesn’t matter how many times people tell you it will be fine, it is terrifying, but the good news is that whatever it is has been picked up and will be dealt with.

Xx

Thinking of you and keeping everything crossed that it turns out to be benign. Take care. Flowers

StarlitTrees · 14/10/2019 18:58

Ive been thinking of you OP.

I'll mirror what others have said, don't think the worst is the only possibility, it's just as likely the raised CA125 and the mass could be an ovarian cyst.

No matter what the outcome, I hope you have good people around to support you and you know where we are if you want to talk into the abyss.

NoSauce · 18/10/2019 19:40

How are you OP?

ActualMermaid · 18/10/2019 19:45

Try to stay positive OP, though I know it's so very difficult. Do you have someone to go to your appointment with you? Thanks

ArnyBarnie · 18/10/2019 20:33

Good luck, OP

fudgesmummy · 25/10/2019 11:43

Just wondering how you are @Jasmine82?
Have you seen the Gynecologist yet?

TheMustressMhor · 05/11/2019 17:02

@Jasmine82

Just wondering how you are, OP?

Hope everything is all right.

Afternooninthepark · 05/11/2019 17:55

My sister had the same thing two years ago, they rushed her through for an op to remove the tumour which turned out to be endometriosis. Hope you are ok op.

Sacredspace · 05/11/2019 18:51

@Jasmine82 my best friend had exactly the same symptoms as you, the same tests and at age 46 too. It wasn’t the worst case scenario. It was endometriosis and ovarian cysts.

fudgesmummy · 05/11/2019 19:27

I am 8 days post surgery after having a 50 lb ovarian cyst removed
I am truly half the woman I used to be!😁

glueandstick · 05/11/2019 20:53

@fudgesmummy CRIKEY. Just how on earth did you walk around with that? Had younsome idea it was a cyst before or just thought it was a bit of weight?

Enjoy your new found weight loss!

fudgesmummy · 05/11/2019 21:35

@glueandstick
I had absolutely no idea until about 6 weeks ago when I had a MRI scan for something else and it showed a large mass in my abdomen.
I thought I was just fat, I have always carried my extra weight on my belly and it had grown so slowly I hadn’t really noticed Blush
Within 2 weeks I was diagnosed with Stage one ovarian cancer leading to major surgery last week having everything removed, Both ovaries and tubes, womb, cervix and appendix
I can now see my feet for the first time in years!
My poor stomach has been hacked to bits and isn’t very attractive looking but the surgeon said it is still very swollen and should settle down a bit
I can now sit near to the table to eat and I’m looking forward to being able to drive again as it’s been near impossible to fit behind the wheel for the last year

Hi all, it's been forever and did mean to do an update out of respect to all the people who took the time to send replies and ask how I was but circumstances took over in a big way and also really wanted to tell my story so others don't ignore symptoms, however vague...
I had stage 1A ovarian cancer, had hysterectomy- removed everything! Unfortunately my mum passed away during my recovery and my partner thought that would be an excellent time to end our relationship! So I was forced to go back to work earlier than I should due to financial pressures etc so that's why I haven't been on to update.
But the main reason is to beg all women out there not to ignore any symptoms,l consider myself lucky, at that stage surgery is usually enough but I have to have regular check ups for 2 years but surgeon is confident it's all fine and just a precaution.
Most women aren't as lucky as I was and get diagnosed when it's too late, I kept putting it off and putting it off as I thought I would be wasting the doctors time. You're not!
I know doctors are busy with coronavirus at the moment but don't put it off- please
Stay safe

I’m glad you’re doing well
Reassuring to read good news

Polkadotpjs · 24/03/2020 17:45

Do you mind if I ask if you squish it down or was your abdomen all solid?

Jasmine82 · 24/03/2020 17:57

Polkadotpjs- thanks so much, it was hard as a rock, like it had been blown up with a bicycle pump but other women might have a different experience.
