To think I will never wear jeans again?

OK, this is a badly disguised advice thread, but there's an element of desperation here so I hope you'll forgive me.

I have not been able to find a pair of jeans that fit me for almost ten years. That is no exaggeration. I've been to lots of specialised shops and feel like I have tried all the usual suspects. Today was another disaster as I tried on almost 30 pairs at Debenhams - all, according to the sales assistant, super stretchy and perfect for my shape - only to again walk out with none.

My problem: I have a hollow back, a high waist, but also a permanent I-am-four-months-pregnant belly. The often-praised Levi bold curve, for example, did not work for me because the button digs into my poor belly fat like it wants carve a path to my ovaries. And that is what usually happens: jeans gape at the back or slide halfway down my bum when I sit down, but are still super tight and uncomfortable in the front because of my extra chub there.

I'm so tired of having to wear dresses every day, and I do have very nice and long legs that would look good in jeans. Grin I am hoping for the perfect idea, or maybe some partners in misfortune.

ASDA jeggings are amazingly comfortable and not at all see-through. Only about £14 a pair too.

Sotiredbutcannotsleep · 09/10/2019 17:23

Maternity jeans are brilliant, the ones that sit below the belly (kept mine long after my last pregnancy).

WhenDoISleep · 09/10/2019 17:23

Super expensive option, but Levi do made-to-measure jeans in their London store.

HugTrees · 09/10/2019 17:26

If you’re looking for jeans to wear with slightly longer tops then get maternity jeans, the ones with not the over the bump but the elasticed waist band. No bulk from the zip/button and clothes sit over the top better.

Laiste · 09/10/2019 17:28

I buy M&S jeggins. I have a hollow back and an hour glass figure and the stretchyness of jeggins are the only thing which fits me properly.

Some of them are quite indistinguishable from 'real' jeans once on. Some have a button and zip ect. You can get high waisted, mid rise ect.

AthollPlace · 09/10/2019 17:33

Jeggings. M&S ones are great.

TessoftheDobermans · 09/10/2019 17:33

If you still can't find any that fit after trying all of the above, get some that fit well round your tum then take them to an alterations place. They can either take them in down the back seam where it gapes, or put in a dart either side of the centre back to flatten it out.
I've got a small waist (only bit that is!) and a hollow back, and this is all that works for me. Once I've taken them in at the back they sit perfectly

Justsaynonow · 09/10/2019 17:44

I swear by Hue jeggings

They accommodate that belly and have various lengths, look like jeans and are super comfy

kateandme · 09/10/2019 17:45

going to be a bit far out now but have you tried supermarket brands.

kateandme · 09/10/2019 17:46

i say this because they are the ones constantly trying to push 'real woman' featured and being made for so they might have a fit.

LizB62A · 09/10/2019 17:46

I've got a belly and bum and usually end up with a gap behind my waist - I've found Matalan jeans to be pretty good (although not very hard wearing, but they fit me and they're cheap !)

bpirockin · 09/10/2019 17:47

I used to have the same problem until I discovered Levi's 901's - then they changed them and all I have left is my stash. I loaded up on them on a visit to the States as soon as I knew. Drives me mad that they discontinued them (years ago now), then brought them back but they were different and no bloomin' good! I'm currently hoping to lose enough weight to be able to get the stash back out, after years of M&S Per Una Roma ones - good but not as good (currently somewhat larger) NYDJ also get my vote.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/10/2019 17:51

If you find an alteration service they can remove a V shaped piece of fabric from the back waist area.

You probably have a lordosis, I do too and wear mid rise so the waist sits lower but this probably isn’t an option if your high waisted and your tummy isn’t stretched over your hips like some lucky women.

Lolwhat · 09/10/2019 17:51

Asda wonderfit

Dangerfloof · 09/10/2019 17:53

Ok I never heard of nydj but on the back of this thread looked em up. Brand alley stock them . So if you find a pair that suits, try brand alley.
Unless someone knows different?

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 09/10/2019 17:54

Jeggings. M&S ones are great.

My go-to as well. Buy a size up and they will look less leggingy and more jeany if you see what I mean.

Divebar · 09/10/2019 17:59

You just need a good seamstress ...... so many tailoring problems can be resolved with one.

Sarcelle · 09/10/2019 17:59

I am 5 foot 1, anybody similar height who has had a pair of NYD jeans?

TetherEndReached · 09/10/2019 18:05

I have a hollow back, small high waist, big hips and 2 months' pregnant tum. M&S High Rise are the best fit I can find. I always wear all trousers and jeans with a belt which stops the gap at the back of the waist.
I just bought these in a longer length so they fit as full length not ankle grazer.

CottonSock · 09/10/2019 18:08

I considered a made to measure pair, but found gap curvy and tu high waist were a good bet.

Preggosaurus9 · 09/10/2019 18:31

I'm the same. Jeans and dresses make me cry. You can alter them yourself with a ladder stitch. Take two little v shapes out of the back, one going into each pocket.

LailaDay · 09/10/2019 18:46

I am going to try all of these on the weekend and will report back! Thanks everyone

I had never heard of lordosis, but googled it and it does sound familiar! I would never claim to have no excess fat now (I also did have a baby), but I had the same kind of shape when I was a size 6 and it seems to be common in dancers and gymnasts, which were always my sports. Shock

People on here suggested Sainsburys Tu. Got 2 different types from there and they both fit a dream...girlfriend and stretch skinny.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 09/10/2019 18:54

You’ve probably already tried but- high waisted jeans sound like the most obvious “right” type for your shape OP.

Drogonssmile · 09/10/2019 19:28

I got some NYDJ from EBay. I'm the same as you OP! They're brill. Since then I have also found them in TKMaxx.
