To panic that someone has done something to jeopardise my job? Wwyd?

Received this text message whilst in my car on my lunch today.
I feel sick.
Have hidden the company name they put at the end but I have researched it and it is not local.
Unsure of the best course of action here, as I know I'm going to be worrying about it constantly ☹️ (natural worrier/stress head).
Photo of message attached.
Thanks for advice in advance.

If it's not relevant to you then it's just a scam- block the number and forget about it.

sunshinegirl13 · 08/10/2019 16:38

It’s usually a pishing type scam. Sounds like one of the ones that can be used if you text or call the number in a panic and then helps them gain remote access to your phone or charges you to ring/text. Just block and delete. Do not ring!

DadDadDad · 08/10/2019 16:48

@QueenofallIsee - "nudes in your work clothes"? how does that work?

AgathaF · 08/10/2019 16:49

Ignore and block. Definitely, definitely don't engage.

And try to stop worrying Smile.

ClemDanFango · 08/10/2019 16:53

I don’t get it? Sorry to be obtuse but what in the threat in the message?

amusedbush · 08/10/2019 16:54

I have not done anything that would justify such a text imo.

It's phishing. Ignore it.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 08/10/2019 16:56

DadDadDad - I am frequently naked beneath my clothes.

It is a little fetish I have. Wink

ChaosTrulyReigns · 08/10/2019 16:58

1/ save the number, eg "October scam" into contacts

2/ open WhatsApp.

3/ open that new contact

4/ if they've got an account theur saved profile photo will show

That may help you see who it is, if it's a real person.

Though my money is on Scammy McScamFace.

DadDadDad · 08/10/2019 17:01

Schadenfreude - I'd ask for pictures to prove it, but I don't want to get myself banned from MN! Blush

(Are you familiar with Sam the American Eagle from The Muppets?)

slipperywhensparticus · 08/10/2019 17:03

It seems like a threat but not for you x

SchadenfreudePersonified · 08/10/2019 17:06

I am Dad, but I can't think how he fits into this scenario.

(Has been many Muppet-free years for me, except for the "Muppet Christmas Carol" )

DadDadDad · 08/10/2019 17:11

Schaeden - Google "Sam Eagle Muppets naked video" (it's safe!) and you'll find him giving an indignant speech about how the entire population of the world is walking around naked (underneath their clothes) - it builds to a suitably preposterous conclusion.

inwood · 08/10/2019 17:15

Just ignore it. It's nothing to do with you!

LagunaBubbles · 08/10/2019 17:17

have not done anything that would justify such a text imo

Its not a nice message to receive that's for sure but I don't get why you panicked about jeopardising your job? Is everything OK with you generally?

Witchinaditch · 08/10/2019 17:19

If it’s not your employer or any company you have any connection with I can’t see how it could possibly be anything to do with you. I think you’re being paranoid. Just forget it

UnoriginalUserName948 · 08/10/2019 17:19

Ignore it, block number.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 08/10/2019 17:21

But . . but . . .

What if all my friends and colleagues at the League of Healthy Non-Perverted Entertainment Committee find out about it when those nasty people share all of my website hits?

Blush
QueenofallIsee · 08/10/2019 17:25

Fine, compromising pictures in work identifying attire if you’d prefer

Bluntness100 · 08/10/2019 17:26

I don't really understand this or why you're so worried.

"Top tip never take a pic in work clothing, John Lewis"

Is that basically what it says?

lonelyonee · 08/10/2019 17:27

Haha thanks everyone you've defo cheered me right up, some of you are too funny!
I've blocked and deleted. Kept screenshot.
I'm the type of person so say go ahead post whatever you've got you silly sods! I'd love to see what they came up with but yes best to avoid altogether I think!

@LagunaBubbles very pregnant and very paranoid I think! 😂

@ChaosTrulyReigns way ahead of you... first thing I did. Nothing came up. Leaning towards scummy mcscamface also! Aha!

This literally makes no sense but I'm intrigued by OPs next update so here I am...

I mean if it literally doesn't apply to you in any way, why are you so worried?

TonTonMacoute · 08/10/2019 17:31

It's the same people who run those scams when they ring you up to say there is a problem with your broadband, or your computer has a virus.

Ignore and block.

Straycatstrut · 08/10/2019 17:57

I'm still confused 3 pages in Grin... so OP did you post a photo in work clothes and then recieve that message from a random number soon after? (that's a bit worrying)

Or did you NOT post a photo in work clothes? if not why worry?

lonelyonee · 08/10/2019 17:59

@Bluntness100 essentially yes.

OP posts:
lonelyonee · 08/10/2019 18:05

@Straycatstrut no. No posts in work clothes or anything such like it. No taking photos in work clothes elsewhere either.
@RavenLG Had track record of people being abusive via calls/texts so I think I just assumed the worst? Plus the hormones don't help 😂
@TonTonMacoute don't answer calls from numbers I don't know so I've never experienced it but I'm with you!

Think it may be time for a number change but I am reluctant to let it go as I've had it pretty much forever ☹️
